A guess would be a broken throttle return spring near the throttle body. (follow the hose from the air cleaner back toward the engine--where it ends is the throttle body). Look for a small twisted wire cable that operates when the throttle is stepped on and a spring is supposed to pull the cable back after you take your foot off of the gas..
