Depending on the color of the fluid it could be a number of things. If the fluid is brown/golden you are leaking oil, if it is red or dark red it's tranny fluid and if it is green it is coolant. If you can figure out what type of fluid it is, you can better determine the cause and then find the solution.

generally if you are leaking tranny fluid after rebuilding, you have a leak in the gasket. If you did it yourself, we all have had the same issues. If you don't tighten the bolts in a certain order at the correct torque settings you can get a leak in addition to not properly cleaning the area where the seal goes. Any left over gasket or sealer can cause the seal to not seat right. One method I use is to use the sealer and make a circle of cealer around each bolt hole to ensure no leaks. Gets messy but never had any problems. Have you traced where the leak is coming from? Wipe everything down and let it idle for a few minutes. You should be able to then pinpoint the problem. Hopefully it's in the pan gasket and not throwing it out of the centrifical clutch. Thats a headace with front wheel cars due to the space issues. You'll end up having to drop or pull the motor.

1996 chevrolet impala ss oil leak rear of engine

Is it engine oil or transmission fluid? Is it driven often or does it sit in the garage? If engine oil, then possibly the rear seal is leaking into the bellhousing as you drive and then draining on the floor after you stop. If ****** fluid, then possibly front seal on ****** is leaking. If car sits for long periods of time the input shaft seal can allow fluid to leak past the shaft. This usually will fix itself when driven. Can't promise it will fix itself permanently. Will not be an easy fix if either seal needs replacing (or cheap).

ITS A SOMEWHAT COMMON PROBLEM KNOWN AS "MORNING SICKNESS" MOST COMMON IN CARS THAT TEND TO SIT A LOT. IN MOST CASES THE ONLY WAY TO FIX IT IS HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT HOWEVER SOMETIMES YOU CAN CHANGE THE FLUID AND ADD A LITTLE BIT OF BRAKE FLUID TO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LIKE LESS THAN A 1/4 CUP IF YOU ADD WAY TO MUCH IT WILL MESS UP THE TRANSMISSION WORSE THERE ARE ALSO SOME "REMIDIES" IN A BOTTLE YOU CAN GET AT YOUR LOCAL PARTS STORE THEY ARE FLUID ADDITIVES

Transmission issues after transmission flush

Well first off, coolant in the transmission will cause transmission failure if left in long enough. Proving why the radiator failed will be another story.
