Question about 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier

1 Answer

I have a 2001 cavalier that had been wrecked in the front. We have replaced all the damaged parts. The problem is the headlights. I can only get one headlight to shine bright, the other one is very dim and because of that the daytime running lights don't work. We have rewired it 3 times. The first time it worked great for about 2 weeks. Ever since then we cant get them to work. Any ideas to which wire on the headlight plug is the ground? It is almost like it isn't getting a good ground so I thought I would try running another ground wire to the frame but don't know which wire is the ground.

My drl switch is bad iv'e concluded... but now i have no headlights high or low. is this a blown fuse from lack of drl switch replacement or what. i still have my parking lights but no headlights

Hi,
Likely the Headlights work through the DRL switch, too. Replace the switch (get a used one from a used parts/salvage/wrecking yard) or from a dealer...might call an auto parts store, too.

Surprisingly, your owners manual is one of the best sources for information on headlight replacement and taillight replacement. I learned this a few years ago myself, it's the only repair instruction they put in a automobile owners manual.

My 2000 cavalier 2.2L has intermintant warning lights and headlights go out. Usually happens when going over bumps, shifting gears, or when putting park brake lever down or up. I think the body control...

Check the front wiring harness in front of radiator for pinholes or cracks. Also, check the wires that run underneath the battery tray. Very common problem in sunfires and cavaliers.

Is the fuel pump on a 2001 chevrolet cavalier located insided the fuel tank? is there any reason not to replace it with one from the junk yard?

The pumps at junk yard are sitting and sometimes for long periods of time and the fuel dry up and varinsihes the pump then the pump wont work or leak down after shut off. this job the tank must be dropped i would not want to take a change of doing the work and then the pump is bad, a new one is expensive and times are tough so do what you can i hope this is helpful good luck.

I was in an accident and damaged the driver's side front headlight sude whre cani find parts

The cheepest place to get parts for your car is at the wrecking yard. Check the phone book or look on line for one near you. Call to make sure they have a car like yours before you go. This way you can get the part you need first and if you damage any components that hold the parts you need to the car you won't be hurting your own car.

Only way it would work is to do the 01 conversion by switching the whole doghouse (fenders, hood, bumper, lights, etc.) It can be done though.
