On the soiliniod there are three prongs. Coming from the battery there are two connectors that are going to the top and bottom main prongs. Coming from the other side there are 2 single connectors. Do both of those go to the bottom prong?

What do you mean by "burning up starters", and how often?

This is the EVTM page on the starting system, don't know if it will help you track down the wire locations :

Wut did my starter wire burn out

because you hooked up the wire to the wrong terminal and the full battery current was too much for it .Check which terminal it is supposed to go on then replace the wire completely

i just had the same problem that i just fixed 2day... on my 01 santa fe they ran outta the 01 alternators???? and modified the wireing for an 02. to determin this u can look at the PLUG on the back of ur alternator and if it has 2 little wires and set for 2 prongs to plug into it then u got the wrong yr alternator. that is if the new ALTERNATOR only has 1 prong in it. u will need to ask for an 02 alternator. hope this helps

I have a 1968 F100 to start 1 wire to the solenoid the other to the coil? Please help

Um, I am not sure what you are asking, but there is a resistor bypass wire that goes from the starter solenoid to the coil. The reason is during starting not enough power gets to the coil through the resistor. After start, the resistor power source is enough, and the direct connect power (from solenoid) would burn out the coil.

1993 mustang 5.0 has no power to starter. head lights work. the x owner tried to start the car smoke came from under the hood in the wiring

Suspect a burned-out 'fuse link'--a special section of the wiring that protects the car if certain components short out and overload the wiring (why don't they use fuses to protect these areas you ask, cheaper to use fuse links I say). Anyway, these fuse links may or may not protrude from the wiring harness, and the job of the repair person is to find the burned out link, replace it with a like device plus locate and repair/replace the shorted component. Good luck!
