Question about 2009 Mazda MAZDA3

1 Answer

My Mazda3 2009 hood got slighly buckled. I would guess the collision speed to be around 10m/hr. Now one of the auto shop guys is saying it can be repaired (cheaper) and the other one is saying it can't be repaired (have to replace it). Is there any way to know for sure? I can send pics if needed but don't see an option for it. Thanks very much.

It can be repaired but whether or not you will be happy with the job is another story. It would take a very experienced bodyman to make your hood look like it was never repaired. This is a hard piece to make look good after an accident. If it doesn't come out right you will see it every time you get in your car and so will anyone else when it comes time to sell it. You'll have to make the call but for me, on a brand new car I'd pay the extra and put the new hood on. Hope this helps.

I have a shakeing/vibration coming from the rear.

While your local guy is having a guess get him to look at a damaged or out of round wheel. A damaged tyre. Then have him jack up the rear wheels and fit jack stands then drive the car up slowly and watch the rear wheels for shaking or buckle and see if the vibration starts. You don't say how many miles but a worn or damaged suspension bush, shock absorber etc can give these symptoms. Check carefully and if you are not confident with that person then ask around for another opinion before you spend out. A good experienced mechanic should be able to trace it just from a test drive, followed by an inspection.

Does the driving on overdrive mode cause high fuel consumption, because the transmission use the first three ratios mostly?

driving in over drive mode actually is what gives the economy as the engine rpms will be around 300 less than direct drive . Lower rpms = fuel savings
OD should come in around 60 klm/hr and drop out at around 50 klm/hr. When you are accelerating hold the pedal in a set position and watch the rev counter (rpms ) and each gear change you will see the rpms drop and then build back up as the vehicle speed increases At 100klm/hr the revs should be around 3200 rpms or less but if over ( say 3500 rpms) then may be the OD is not coming in. One way to test a box operation is to find a speed shop with a dynomometer and test the gear selections against loads and engine rpms

The RPM of my engine remains at 4000 while my speed is 120 km/hr

I guess that you have a manual transmission. If that is the case you have a clutch on the way out. Slow slippage that gets worse as the plate gets hotter. If an automatic it is possible that the overdrive is not holding due to low pressure in the box. Have a pressure test done on the box--- have the fault codes read. From experience 120 kph is around 3200rpm for most cars and the 800 rpm difference indicates that the o/dive is not working as it should.

Can a rear end collision cause a speedometer on a 2004 Isuzu Ascender not to work?

not sure if a rear colision could cause that but your speed sensor is bad. the speedometer was off and most of the time not working at all, i had the dealer look at it (under warranty at the time) and they replaced the speed sensor and everything is all good now.

are you doors locking automaticly? i guess the speed sensor is hooked up to the auto locks to lock the door when you put it in gear, and mines were not locking at that time also.

I rear ended some one and my bumper broke. Its just the crappy plastic one but where is the cheapest place to fine one? and a service place to put it on for cheap?

Junk yard, e-bay motors, or look in phone book for parts suppliers that sell OEM made in China parts. You got to shop around with auto collision shops to find the best deal for install.

Say Guys....Anyone out there know the freon capacity (134a) on a 1998 Silverado 1/2 ton 5.7L? If you also have oil cap. Great! Theroad

There is a sticker under the hood that tells you it is a 134a system and how much refrigerant it holds, and what kind of a/c oil to use. My guess is around 2 pounds, but it is an exact science. Too much or too little will cause it not to cool

The buckle and belt need to be replaced.  They are only good for one time during a collision.  The buckle has an explosive charge in it that causes the buckle to pull back toward the seat.  The belt does the the same.  It locks up during an accident, also so body shops can't try to reuse it.  The SRS light will stay on until they are replaced.
