Question about 2000 Ford Taurus

1 Answer

I have a 2000 Taurus with a V-6 standard motor. Unfortunately when the heat is turned on it will blow air, but not hot air. The a/c works just fine also. Where should I start looking for the solution / answer to this problem? Thank you, John

Start by allowing the motor to run until it reaches normal temperature. Check the top and bottom hoses on the radiator, if the top is hot and the bottm is cold it's likely the thermostat is stuck closed. Also check the hoses on the heater core. If they're not both hot the heater core is blocked.

I would guess its possible that the cable that closes the flap under the hood could possible be failing.

Heat blows out air but does not get warm, any ideas?

If it is faulty, yes.
Does the temp gauge show the engine is warming up to normal temp ?
Is the radiator full of coolant ?
Are the heater hoses getting hot ?
It could also be a faulty blend door under the dash. The blend doors direct air thru the heater core and the vents.

The air conditioner continues to run even when the heater should. checked the servo motor and the flaps move fine but still blows cold air when the heat is on

Check your heater hoses and see if they are hot..If they are ,,the blend door is not operating correctly..Or ive seen the motor work but where the motor hooks to the blend door is broken...When you check the heater hoses make sure they are both hot...Not just one...If only one is hot,,then you have a clogged up heater core...

98 Ford Taurus Heat blows Full no matter how hot it is in the car and even though the Temp is turned down to 60. Also A/C does not work Blows Heat instead not just warm air actual heat. Can turn down fan...

The heater door is probably stuck in the full heat position. It could be a problem with the heater door motor or the controller - you'd have to check for both mechanical and electrical problems under the dashboard.

Heater will not work, just cold air Ed

check the coolant level, if your blow motor works and your not getting heat the coolant is probably empty, the heat work when the engine gets hot and coolant starts to get hot, from there the blower, blows the excess heat into your car, low or no coolant means no heat

LOOK FOR BLOWN WINDOW CIRCUIT BREAKER.YOU HAVE A SHORT IN WINDOW SWITCH OR BAD WINDOW ELECTRIC MOTOR.YOUR HEAT PROBLEM IS A STOPPED UP HEATER CORES.THE STOP LEAK STOP ITS HEAT.THE STOP LEAK HAS STOPPED OR PLUGGED YOUR HEATER CORE SO COOLANT CANT PASS THROUGH IT.YOU GOING HAVE TO FIX RADIATOR LEAK AND REPLACE HEATER CORE TO GET HEAT AGAIN.

you have a blend air system. this means that it uses both the a/c and heat to control the cab temp. there are doors that open and close using servo motors and chances are one or more of these motors might have shorted out. unfortunately they are under the dash and a pain to get to. i would advice that you take it to a shop and let a qualified tech replace them. it will save you alot of frustration in the long run
