Take a 2 foot prybar, shimmy it up between the trans casing and the end of the shaft and pry. It will help if you have the halfshaft out of the spindle at the wheel hub.

I have an 89 ford festiva and want to check the transmission fluid level where do i do that

Should be in the left rear section of the engine compartment. Small, yellow, loop, big enough to get your finger in. With a warm engine, pull it out, wipe it off with a clean cloth, reinsert, pull back out to check fluid level.

Cv joint shaft wont pull away from g/box end on right hand side on 2001 ford festiva

you have to use a pry bar inbetween the gearbox and the cv shaft end.they have a retainer spring in the end to keep it in tight.when installing the new one,it may have to be hit with a 2 lb hammer to seat it in place.cover the end of the shaft that goes to the hub, with a piece of wood so it does not damage the splines.it is critical that the seal on the transmission is clean and all the splines.

1989 Ford Festiva, keeps stalling as driving.

I had the exact same problem. The cooling fan was failing to come on and thus overheating the engine. Check the cooling fan, cooling fan thermoswitch, and cooling fan relay ( behind drivers headlight ). If you pull the connector off of the thermoswitch the fan will come on whenever the car is in "run"
