Question about 1996 Ford Escort 4 Door
1996 Ford Escort GT with 1.8 L DOHC. At idle, will not go into D or OD. I have to put it into L until it gets up to speed then manually shift into D & OD. On highway (55 to 70 mph) if I try to pass a car and downshift, tranny slips. I just had a flush and also put Lucas trans conditioner in. Still the same. Any ideas? I just bought the car for my 16 yr old daughter and I am hoping the trannys not gone.
You'r hoping the tranny's not good? any way, yes it sound like its sliping and slipping badly, if cost is a factor one from a junked unit in good codition should work out fine how ever a rebuilt or exchange unit is even better
