This would most likely be your O2 sensor, bank1 sensor 2,(after the cat. converter)

What does code p2096 mean for 2005 magnum SE?

P2096- Post Catalyst Fuel Trim Sys Too Lean Bank1... It could be the result of bad gas or if you used fuel with a higher content of Ethanol. It could also mean that the post cat. converter O2 sensor on the driver side is bad. I would try filling up with a good quality gas (minimal Ethanol content), disconnect the negative terminal on the battery for a minute or so to reset the MAL (malfunction indicator light) and see if that takes care of it. If the code reappears, you may have a bad sensor, maybe ECU ECM PCM, worst case.... If you happen to need any info or ECU ECM PCM for this current vehicle (as they have a HIGH failure rate) or ANY other type of Car, diesel trucks small and big, SUV DIESELs ANYTHING etc, please call 888-672-4816 or 954-279-2040 and tell them Tim From FIXYA.COM sent you for FREE PROGRAMMING on YOUR NEW ECU ECM PCM DIESEL OR GAS COMPUTER!! Best Regards, -Tim

How to reset the P2096 code error on my 05 Wrangler?

2095 ( a jeep factory code that is , jeep only)
reset. like all cars , you can reset any code, with any scan tool
but if the failure is real and present it will NOT.
that is its purpose to report real failures.
is this the 3.8Liter v6 , like mine is?
DOWNSTREAM FUEL TRIM SYSTEM 1 LEAN
down means not the front sensor.
engine >>>>Up >>>>CAT >>>> down?>>>>> tail pipe end.
this is an air leak (crack) behind the cat converter
or the sensor is bad, (down stream.)
or wires fell off, (common) LOOK FIRST.see damage there?

Chrysler pt cruiser code p2096

Trouble Code: P2096

Downstream Fuel System 1/2 Lean

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running in closed loop mode. Ambient/battery temperature above 20F (-7C). Altitude below 8500 feet. Fuel level is more than 15%. If the PCM adds downstream short-term compensation to long-term adaptive, and a certain percentage is exceeded for 2 trips, a freeze frame is stored, the MIL illuminates and a DTC is set.

Possible Causes:

Exhaust leakEngine mechanical problemO2 Sensor has failedO2 Sensor signal circuit or return circuit problemFuel contamination

code #0406 = egr position sensor circuit high ( stuck egr valve or bad egr sensor most likely sensor )

code #2096 = downstream fuel trim system lean ( see next code )

code #0137 = O2 sensor bank 1 sensor 2 circuit low ( replace rear O2 sensor driver side )

code #2299 = brake peddle position/accelerator pedal position incompatible. ( hav you been power braking this truck? ) ( brake light was on wile accelerator was being pushed )

I have 2 codes showing on my 2004 chrysler sebring.? P2096 AND p0137. what do they mean and how do I know what parts to get to fix the problem.

P0137 O2 Sensor Bank 1, Sensor 2 Voltage Low
P2096 Down Stream Fuel System Bank 1, Sensor 2 Lean

There are 3 possible engines in your vehicle, a 2.4L 4-cyl, a 2.7L V-6, and a 3.0L V-6. If your car has a 4-cyl then there is only one downstream O2 sensor. This is where you need to start the diagnosis for code P0137.
While it would be nice to assume that the sensor is faulty, the sensor wiring between sensor and PCM could be the problem as well.
That said, you are looking for a DOWNSTREAM OXYGEN SENSOR. I strongly advise that the replacement be OEM compatable. Avoid Universal Replacement types that use **** connectors to make them work.
Good Luck!

I;ve a problem with a code defenition. p2096

This code means "Post catalyst fuel trim is to lean", what does this mean? it means that the signal coming from the sensor after the catalytic converter is always showing a lean fuel air ratio, that is what "trim means" most likely the sensor is defective, I recommend you replace the sensor after the main catalytic converter, this is the sensor that looks like an O2 sensor and is commonly called the post catalytic converter efficiency monitor, its job is to monitor the output gases of the catalytic converter and verify that the catalytic converter is doing its job of cleaning the exhaust stream. Just to make sure u have all the reasons this code is set here are all the poss reasons for the copmputer to set this code, the sensor is the most common one.

ALL Possible Causes

EXHAUST LEAK

ENGINE MECHANICAL

P[OST CAT O2 RETURN DOWNSTREAM CIRCUIT

FUEL CONTAMINATION

POST CATALYST O2 HEATER CIRCUIT
