The service engine soon light stays on. Auto Zone hooked it up the engine show no problems

Heidi if you take your Lincoln to Auto Zone they do not charge for checking out service engine soon codes.

Some problems are intermittent. If the engine check light is now off (except momentarily when you turn on the ignition and start) and staying off, just drive on.

Good Evening, unfortunately it is not as simple as it could be. Servicing your engine usually meant changing your oil or doing a tune up. Your service engine soon light could come on for emission related sensors, transmission related information and otherwise. If it is still running correctly and still feels fine I would not quite worry yet. However I would not hesitate to take it to your local autozone or advance auto parts stores and they can hook up to your vehicle and give you a little print out of what the diagnostic code is stored in the system causing the light to be on. And armed with that information we can help solve your problem. Anymore these lights can come on from your gas cap not being on tight enough or the gasket on it not making a good seal. TAKE VECHICLE TO AUTO ZONE OR ADVANCE AUTO PARTS THEY WILL CODE SCAN YOUR VECHICLE FREE.SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT COMING ON COULD MEAN EVAPORATIVE LEAK OR CYLINDER MISFIRE.BUT AUTO ZONE WILL SCAN IT AND TELL YOU WHAT TROUBLE CODE YOU ARE GETTING.

TAKE IT TO AN AUTO ZONE & THEY WILL RUN A SCAN ON IT & TELL YOU WHAT THE CODE IT IS, THEN YOU CAN REPLACE WHAT PART YOU NEED.

most any sensor going bad can cause the check engine light to come on,try disconnecting the posative battery cable for 15 seconds ,then put it back on,will reset the codes, or take it to auto zone,they will test your computer for codes at no charge to you.i had a venture van my was ox. sensor. thanks robert b.

Take it to your local Auto Zone store. They will hook it up to a scanner for FREE and read the codes saved in the computer. They should give you a printout with the codes and possible problems with your car. You can decide where to take it to get it serviced knowing what the problem is. It's usually a bad sensor. Auto Zone could quote you a price on the part so you have an idea of what your repair bill should be. Auto Zone only sells parts. They do not install them. Good Luck!

I found several shops in my area, Albany, NY that had the older code readers. It worked fine, and cost me $30.00. It showed a bad O2 sensor that I replaced myself. I suggest you go to a reliable shop. Auto Zone/Advance etc.. do not have the right code readers. Joe

you have to have it checked some how. it might be an OBD 1 adapter. the dealer is the best way to go, but if you go that way their going to want you to fix every little thing that is wrong with the car. dont let them talk you into it. fix only what you want to. i would only fix what the light is telling me to fix.

Go to your local auto zone parts store, they have a free service where they will hook your car up to a dianostic computer and tell you what fault code is comming up. Then you can work on the correct problem. Also some cars have more than one O2 sensor, so it could still be a O2 sensor. Get the diagnostic check first. If you don't have a Auto Zone go to Advanced Auto, or start calling the part stores in your area and see if they offer this service, AMMCO offfers this service for free also.
