Spray Ether in the air intake...if it doesn't start then, I would suspect the timing chain.

Turning ignition switch to start position ! Nothing happens , no click , nothing ?
Circuit Description
Moving the ignition switch to the CRANK position sends a 12 V signal to the PCM Ignition Crank Sense. The PCM verifies that the transmission is in the PARK or NEUTRAL position. The PCM then grounds the control circuit of the START relay. When the START relay is energized it allows voltage to the starter solenoid S terminal.

This is troubleshooting info from GM factory service testing and repair manual .A scan tool isn't necessary , you could use a test light if you knew which pins at the PCM . For example , testing Crank Request Signal parameter in the PCM data list. Find this wire circuit at the PCM , with a test light .When turning the key to start position ,does the test light light ? A factory scan tool just cuts down the time of diagnoses . A wiring diagram is a must for diagnosing this . Free wiring diagrams can be found at
http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html There are videos on youtube on basic automotive electrical trouble shooting , Control module diagnostics . That is if you don't know how to already .

How do I replace the crankshaft sensor on my 2001 Buick Regal? Both knocksensors?

You best bet is take to a ASE certified repair shop or a GM dealer ! When replacing crank sensor a special procedure has to be done with a scan tool .
Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn
The Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn Procedure should be performed if any of the following conditions are true:
?€¢
DTC P1336 is set

?€¢
The PCM has been replaced

?€¢
The engine has been replaced

?€¢
The crankshaft has been replaced

?€¢
The crankshaft harmonic balancer has been replaced

?€¢
The crankshaft position sensor has been replaced
Important: Set the vehicle parking brake and block the drive wheels when performing the crankshaft position system variation learn procedure in order to prevent personal injury. Release the throttle when the engine reaches the SECOND fuel cut off. Leaving the throttle open during the fuel cut-off will allow the engine to decel at an even rate. Once the learn procedure is completed, the PCM will return the engine control to the operator and the engine will respond to the throttle position.
Important: The scan tool crankshaft position system variation learn function will be inhibited if engine coolant temperature is less than 70?°C (158?°F). Allow the engine to warm to at least 70?°C (158?°F) before attempting the crankshaft position system variation learn procedure.
The scan tool crankshaft position system variation learn function will be inhibited if any powertrain DTCs other than DTC P1336 are set before or during the crankshaft position system variation learn procedure. Diagnose and repair any DTCs if set.
The crankshaft position system variation learn function will be inhibited if the PCM detects a malfunction involving the camshaft position signal circuit, the 3X reference circuit, or the 18X reference circuit.
?€¢
If the scan tool indicates a problem with the cam signal, refer to DTC P0341 .

?€¢
If the scan tool indicates a problem with the 3X crank signal, refer to DTC P1374 .

?€¢
If the scan tool indicates a problem with the 18X crank signal, refer to DTC P0336 .

Now why do you want to replace these thing's ? mite be able to save you some time an money. Do you have a check engine light lit ? Codes ? Does it start an run ?

Why isn't it getting fire?

which engine, we cant guess them here.
the TJ book is free.
http://www.jeep4x4center.com/knowledge-base/index.htm?utm_source=cj#service
the real deal ,even full schematics and every wire color !!

no spark on all cylinders or just one.
if coil is dead, sure,

this is and EFI engine, not some simple 1980 CJ.SORRY!

the EFI has many things that need to work to run.
not just one wire.
the cranking is simple, (old , tried and true, simple)
but not EFI.
so do you have tools, i mean voltmeter and a scan tool>?

if you connected the scan tool and cranked 99% of time
(new engine, new sparkplugs, new wires there)

the PCM will tell you what sensor is dead preventing spark
there are 4 causes. ill list them.
cause one is fuses blown
cause 2 CEL lamp dead. in cluster, means PCM has no power see number one cause fuse. CEL means check engine lamp....
it glows key on , telling you, hey buddy ECU has POWER.

If car is fitted with factory immobilizer , is the dash lamp glowing telling you its Immobilized?
when you crank does the ASD relay close for 3 second min?
fuse 12,6, and 18(coil)

now the sensor side.
1: CMP dead. P3xxx codes. DTC's
2: CKP dead (crank sensor)
3: ignitor dead. (it drives the coil)
4: tacho line dead. (some times is just #3)

hint 2
if the ASD does not close (energize) or closes for 3 second
and drop out
for 100% sure the scan tool tells you why it fail.
not scanning modern cars , you will work blind and fail.
big time. a tool is as cheap as $10 (real scan tool not a bs code reader)

if the scan tool (used) , shows no DTC errors??? live?
cranking for 5 full seconds?
then
fuse 18 blown or coil is bad.
1 min flat, you know.
see?
the below is off the link above. in the wiring section
chapter 8w-30
fuse 18 top left must be good.
the ASD relay must close.

25836061-b0qotdfot4r50rcgu1whx1iy-5-0.jpg if the scan tool show these errors
see the ASD page, for way.
no starts, or only runs 2-3 seconds, bingo

DID i cover this fully? if not ask.
can do each step 1 by 1....

1997 jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0 4wd. All the gauges dropped and now won't start. I've replaced the computer but still nothing

wont crank or cranks fast but will not start,????????
wow first thing replaced the most expensive part on car.? why ?
replace PCM. ! wow ! what if used PCM (is it used) is bad,?
if so now 2 problems, Compounding every thing,.....$$$$$$$$

last time it ran was 1 week ago , 1 year, what? miles on it?
bad fuel in tank , old?
why not elaborate that key symptom first.?
there is a cluster there.
gauges, warning lights. many, all must glow.
lets do this dance, posted 100 times;. now.
  1. head lights work not dim? key in pocket.
  2. key on, not cranked ! (covered in missing oper. guide)
  3. all warning lights glow, if not battery is weak or fuses blown.
  4. and the CEL lamp there, it must glow or the PCM has no power ,that too, is a blown PCM fuse. fact. (or lamp dead)
  5. lets say the lamp was dead,CEL the scan tools hows status of the lamp and all else, so use a $10 scan too now. does it communicate with the PCM and show all sensors and not DTC errors? scan it now, cant fix cars now , with no scan tool , buy one, and win on old cars. big time with pay back !!! heck all cars. 96+
  6. so the CEL glows now, good, now you crank, now, does the crank shaft turn fast cranking, yes/no. yes !
  7. then check for spark , got spark x 6?
  8. got spark well test fuel works now , even with dry gas tank.
  9. is the ASD relay closing and then dropping,? ( yes, and yes)
  10. then that means the PCM cut fuel , on purpose !!!!
  11. the scan tool tells you why. it did drop for sure. scan it.

1993 to now , MR. ASD 101

http://www.fixkick.com/Jeeps/ASD.html

PCM is the engine EFI brain, it runs all spark and all fuel all the time. it also dumps the ASD to stop engine fires, by law.
confuses many, and all cars have this, one way or the other,
all EFI cars.

2005 Impala 2005 LS won't start, no sound, no rev up, just lights up

There are very complex electronics on your vehicle , you people have no ideal what all is involved in starting your vehicle .It's all computer controlled , the PCM - engine computer has to see electrical inputs from different thing's before it will energize the starter crank relay located in the under hood fuse box .

Circuit Description
Moving the ignition switch to the start position sends a 12 volt signal through the PCM (CRANK) fuse in the Junction Block - Left I/P to the PCM to notify the PCM that a crank status has been requested. 12 volts is fed through the ABS/PCM fuse in the Junction Block - Left I/P to the coil side of the CRANK RLY . The PCM grounds this circuit when all parameters are met for starting the engine. This closes the CRANK RLY allowing Battery Positive voltage through Fusible Link and through the switch side of the CRANK relay to the S terminal of the starter solenoid. Ground is found through the engine block.

The PCM has to see correct enable message from the theft- deterrent module an it also has to see a voltage signal through the transmission range sensor , this shows that the vehicle is in park or neutral . Video's on youtube testing relay's . VEHICLE RELAYS Testing from the relay base Jumping pin's 87 & 30 will crank the engine . 85 & 86 are the control side .

VEHICLE RELAYS Operation Diagnosis

I can help with testing, but, you have to do the testing. Use a digital multimeter and make sure battery has a full charge? Also, check your charging system? If the battery is down, we can't do any testing, we're just spinning our wheels.
If the starter motor won't crank, check the starter motor wiring circuits.
If the battery has a full charge, unplug the starter relay, use a jumper wire on the load side of relay, the load side is that line with arrowhead, the starter motor should crank the engine. That doesn't mean it will start. If you try that, make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set.

This is a bad PCM. Try to disconnect the security system first and if it still does not start then it is the PCM.
