Comment from the FIxYa Moderator Staff:

You would do very well to have your QuadraJet carburetor removed, and ovehauled. The problem that you speak of is very common to the QJ carbs. If you choose to have this service performed, make sure that whoever does the overhaul has proper experience, and is capable of doing the job. QJs are very tricky to repair, and a high level of mechanical-carb expertise is a necessity.

A poorly overhauled QJ is not fun to drive.

Your float is sticking or your jets have become clogged. Make sure to check your timing also. And or replace your plugs and wires along with your cap and rotor.

Why does the wipers turn on by themselvesand won't shut offin 1979 Corvette

Inside the wiper motor, there is a circular contact that must have a solution of continuity. Clean this space, it may have some coal that make false contact.

I have jag 2000 s type im getting enigne fail safe mode sign i went jag dealer they gave bill of $1093.89but problem is still there i have 129000 miles on it ,when sign comes i feel little bit of power...

First try to find a Good Independent Jaguar specialist, as these tend to give much better service on difficult problems than the main dealers who always seem to just want to put new parts on your car and give you a massive Bill ! Fail safe mode can be caused by many things. faulty temp sensor - throttle position sensor - air flow sensors- faulty coils - the list is endless ! Get the codes read on your car by a specialist - this history will show areas where the fault lies. If the codes are not too clear a running monitor test on your car when in use can help to identify the problem area. But make sure you take it to a GOOD garage ! Don't panic as the fact that the car is still drivable and the fault resets when restarted shows that the problem is in one of the electronic sensors - components or could even be a corroded wire in a cable loom. There is a list of known problem areas and reoccurring faults that will be known or accessible to a Jag specialist or Good Garage. Hope this helps - good luck.

How do I convert my 1979 Trans Am from cruise control to non cruise control? I basically want to remove the cruise and have the speedometer work correctly.

if your trans am is an automatic, there should be 3 levers on your carbuator. 1 would be kickdown cable and run to your tranni. 2 would be throttle and run into your firewall. 3 would be cruise control which would run to the unit on the drivers side inside the engine compartment. Disconnect this lever at the carb and propping it up out of the way will disable crusie and leave you're speedometer functional. If you ever want to hook it back up, it would easly possible this way.

The car is running poorly and missing when hitting the gas pedal

Give it a good tune up. Change the cap and rotor, plugs. Make sure that the plug wires are in good shape and not broken from heat.
