I will be contacting dealer for more information. The metal part of the key feels like it has been in the hot summer sun when it is removed from the ignition.

I have a 2002 that does the same thing. I think it's normal. But, this is the only problem I had with a Corolla. I'll have to look into it now I know I'm not the only one.

I just installed a brand new alternator in my 99 Toy Corolla 1.8. It seems to be very hot to the point that I can't touch it. Any ideas?

I purchased a 2010 Corolla in Jul\t 2009. For two months, several times, the key was hot when I removed it from the ignition. I was told it was due to the Immobilizer chip in the handle. I'm concerned as it happened again in Sept 2010. and if it does this periodically I feel in time it could cause a dangerous problem as cars have caught fire due to ignition problems. What response did you get from your dealer or how did you sove your problem??

Engine still running after ignition off and keys removed

I had this problem once with a Daewoo. The cause was the wiring for the car stereo system. It had a relay in it that could lock open if you played music loud for a while because it got hot. The back emf was not stopped by the relay so it diverted power to the ignition. The relay had failed inside when it got hot.
Locate the relays in the car. There may be two or three kinds, depending on number of pins etc. Locate the ignition relay and see if there is another one that is identical (if not buy a new ignition relay) Swap over an identical relay with the iginition relay, see if it fixes it. If it does replace ALL the relays with Bosch relays, do not use Siemens relays, they do handle back emf very well.

2010 corolla key stuck in ignition

It can be faulty ignition lock cylinder.I suggest to wiggle the steering wheel a bit and see if the key gets released out.If that is not helping then first turn steering wheel to right and try removing the key,or next turn steering wheel to left and see if you can remove the key.
Spray wd-40 in the ignition key hole and let it remain there for few minutes, after that once again try to remove the key and see if that helps.
But if that is not helping then ignition lock cylinder has to be removed out and key has to be manually removed.

No spark

More than likely the "igniter" located inside the distributor is bad. It's a pricey part and often the best deal is to find a replacement distributor at your local parts supplier that will contain all-new parts, including the ignition module.

On my 2010 Toyota Corolla the key occasionally is very hot when I remove it from the ignition. Is there something wrong with the ignition? .The dealer said the Immobilizer makes the key warm, but the key...

The transponder around the key which reads the chip is what the dealer means ,it should not make it excessively hot but it all depends on the person because as a mechanic i dont feel it as hot but the mrs uses a cloth ,so when it feels hot to you ask someone else to have feel as it may not appear hot to them .unless the heater vent is blowing over the key then i dont see why its should get that hot ,could be fault of the model i suppose but this is the first time i have read about this for this model vehicle

1993 Corolla brake light will not go off even when key is removed from iginition

Brake light switch is bad or out of adjustment. It's mounted under the dash and is pressed to the off condition when the brake pedal is at rest. Look under the dash and follow the pedal arm up to the pivot and you will see or feel it. It is active with the ignition off.

Car Ignition key

If your key is 'twisted'. in the ignition-lock, I am sorry you won't have no choice but to remove the ignition-lock and dismantling it to free the stuck key.

Before removing the ignition-lock, try spraying a lubricant (WD-40) in the lock, and see it that frees the key.
