Either you got a bad ignition module pack,or a bad ecm or a security system issue cutting the spark off

Struggle to accelerate.from 0 to60.

Old spark plugs will fail randomly under the load of acceleration and may not activate the check engine light. The weak plugs are firing but the compression blows the flame out before it gets started.

How do I no if i have a bad coil on my 2004 Bonneville GXP 4.6 Northstar

if you have multiple coils then there will be a regular misfire on a particular cylinder. If you have sets of coils then the coil that handles a set of plugs will misfire on those plugs. If you have one coil to do the lot then indicators are engine will not start, coil lead will show a weak orange spark when sparked to metal, engine will start fine and run for a period of time before the coil overheats and starts to break down ( misfiring), coil is very hot to the touch (burning ) after minutes of operation.

If you try to start it can you see the engine turning over via watching the belt turn or is the belt barely moving or not moving? Just trying to get an idea of which solution may best fit your issue.

1998 bonneville last time idrove it it was spuderig and exust smelled funny now it wont start sounds like it wants to start but wont turn over

A common issue on the series II 3.8 is the upper intake leaking coolant into the cylinders filling them with coolant. What occurs is the engine hydrolocking. The starter will engage but the motor will not turn over. If doing work yourself remove all the spark plugs first and crank the engine over if the engine is hydrolocked all the coolant will blow out of the cylinders .If the motor now turns over then the upper intake needs replaced as well as the spark plugs and oil.

1998 Pontiac Bonneville SLE will turns over but will not run

I would check to see if the spark plugs are fouled. Or you might have a bad ignition control module (mounted under the coil packs). Auto Zone can test the ignition control module.

Engine wont start. Acts like it is hitting on two cylinders. Need advice on how to check the coil packs.

Start engine, used spark plug piler so you don't get shock, remove one wire at a time if you dot' have spark replace that coil pack, there is three coil pack on top of ignition module you don't have to replace all, just bad one.hope this help.

93 Bonneville Won't Start

No,check for spark first. The security code comes off the key itself & never needs servicing. If no spark, there's a load of things to check, but start with the fuses, then engine codes. Should narrow it down a bit.
