A bad fan relay or a bad sensor that puts the fan on when the engine reaches a certain temperature. Otherwise the fan is supposed to run when the temp reaches certain level and runs till the engine cools to a certain level if the key is in the start position irrespective of the engine running or not.

Have the thermostat checked,or replaced. The coolant sensor ,replaced, and bleed all the air out of the cooling system. The fan cooling fan relay should be good, because the fan is coming on like you said, just not when it needs to.Changing the thermostat, and the coolant sensor, will keep you from having to bleed the system over again, and chances are they need to be changed.I hope this information helps you,if so let us know, please, thank you.

Why won't it key start?

Does the car crank (turn over)? If not, you could have a bad starter. If you can kick start the car, that means the security is off (working properly). If security is activated, it usually will shut down starter, ignition or fuel, or a combination of the three. Hook up a voltmeter to the ignition switch terminal at starter, have a helper turn key to crank position and see if you have battery voltage. If so and starter doesn't turn, you need to replace starter.

How do you reprogram the throttle body on a 2000 Volkswagen beetle with a 1.8L turbo?

The best way is using a VAG-COM to reprogram it, but you can also try putting your key in your ing, leaving your drivers.door open, turning the key to the on position but not starting it, don't touch.anything, wait two minutes, then turn the key off and then start your car, let.it run for a couple of minutes again not touching anything, then go for.a 10 minute ride, most of the.time this will work, if not you have to use the VAG-COM or have a shop that.has one do it.

(1)Car overheating (2)Car starting and cutting out

1- There are 2 fan systems in your car. One is a fan clutch. the other is electric fan. The electric fan is still working, but the fan clutch is not. Replace the fan clutch will take care of this problem. 2- When you put flat down on accelerator the car starts since at this position the throttle body open all the way making a correct air: fuel ratio of 14.6 :1. When you release the accelerator, the throttle body has to go back to it preset position and at this position it didn't make a correct air: fuel ratio of 14.6 causing the engine die instantly. This means your throttle body needs cleaned. There is a vacuum thermal valve at the top engine block to answer your question. It can be easily identified by looking at 2 vacuum hoses from this valve running down to the throttle body.

Engine overheating in traffic or when idling

I'm assuming your car has the Northstar engine?.

Strangely enough,if you remove the thermostat in the Northstar engine, it will overheat, this is because the stat is both a thermostat and a pressure valve.I can't be bothered to explain in detail how the whole cooling system works but please understand that you need to put the stat back in,(or preferably a new one).As for the cooling fans, what you described is normal for the Northstar.
Further to this, look at my profile,I have provided similar solutions for overheating problems.

Radiator cooling fans don't turn, car heats up! Where is the switch that turns those fan on? Thanks/Bob

on most cars , there is a temp sensor screwed into the radiator. When the coolant reaches a certain temprature , the contact inside the sensor closes , and completes the circut for the fan relay.
It should have two wire terminals , pull the wires off , and jump the posts with a short piece of wire or metal. Fan should start . ( Keys must be in the run postition , or engine running when you do this. )

If the fan goes , that means the sensor is not working. If the fan does not go , than it's something else. Perhaps the relay , or the fan motor itself is no good.

If your car has A/C , the fans should turn on when the A/C is turned on.

If you start the engine cold , it should not overheat for quite a while.. If it overheats within 5 min of driving , than your thermostat is probly cooked.

Most cars cooling fans do not run most of the time , airflow through the rad while driving is enough.
The fans would only come on while siting still ( idleing ) for a while.

Good luck : let me know how it goes.

When idling saturn ls 4dr sedan wants to overheat

Sounds like either you are low on coolant or the cooling fan isn't working. With engine cool remove radiator cap and check coolant level, top off if necessary. If full start engine and turn on A/C full blast, full cold the cooling fan should come on almost instantly, unless there are two individual cooling fans in which case only one may turn on. If no fans turn on check all fuses whether related to fan or not. If all fuses fine try swapping relays around, they are usually all the same size/style. If fan still doen't work you have either an open positve or ground side of the circuit, Which will require wiring schematics and a multimeter. If coolant full and fan/s turn on and engine still overheats you'll need a new thermostat installed.
