Cant put serpintine belt on

You don't take anything off

You just put a long 1/2" ratchet in the hole on
the tensioner & Pull against the spring tension until
you have the belt over the final pulley

I am trying to change my 2001 Mitsubishi Mirage (w/ ac) alternator belt. I loosened the tensioner, took out the top - bottom and inside bolt of the ac compressor to take off the first belt and even took...

BEFORE ADJUSTING THE ALTERNATOR BELT DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE OR YOU MIGHT BLOW AN EXPENSIVE HIDDEN FUSE.
I would replace the steering pump belt at the same time you do the alternator belt (buy both).
To take off the alternator belt .
First , take off the negative battery cable so you do not blow an expensive fuse on the positive battery cable clamp(or a block fuse under the hood). Facing the back of the automobile , reach UNDER the alternator and loosen the bolt on the bottom right side, now loosen the bolt on the adjuster block on top, you can now turn the adjuster bolt and move the alternator to change the belt.
To take off the steering pump belt on the front of the motor, you need to loosen the nut on the back side of the pulley (right side of pump mount), the nut holds the adjuster pulley in place . With the adjuster pulley nut loose , you can use the adjuster bolt to move the pulley to adjust/take off the steering pump belt.

Belt broke stering has gone tight-which belt do i need audi a4 1996

Give the model and year at an autoparts store and ask for a power steering belt. Will likely be running the waterpump and alternator too so you cant drive far because you will overheat the engine and or flatten your battery.
Loosen alternator bracket all bolts and move it to the shortest distance to the nearest pulley wheel. Slide belt around all free wheels and idlers (tensioning wheels) and move alternator bracket back to original position so belt is tight.
If you cant get the belt on belt is too short, if it is not tight with alternator about half way along the adjustment bracket belt is too long. Take it back to store, act real grumpy, try to leave with right size belt and a free gift.

Changed the altenator now the tensioner will not go back in place

There may be 2 options on alternators for that truck, make sure the new alternator is exactly the same as the one you took off, they offered 2 differnt voltages for that year and you may have a different part. If thats not it, and you cant get belt back on check for proper belt routing. If tensioner will not flex back to get the belt on, you will need to buy a new belt tensioner, they do freeze up in the spring mechanism and will cause a problem with the belt coming off in the future anyway(wont allow for flex) if you can get the belt back on(assuming this is your problem). Sorry, question is a little vague on exactly where on the tensioner the problem lies.

Have you tried to start it yet? That may be all you need to do to get the tensioner to re-activate and get the proper tightness.Be quick though.Only a brief start, then check it to see if it is any better.

I have a 94 eclipse and my alternator belt snapped i took all the belts off they pulleys to get to it and i put the new alternator belt on and it is really loose and i cant figure out how to get it...

Make sure you have the belt routed correctly. There should be a diagram under the hood of how to do this. If it is correct then the part store may have given you the wrong belt. I have had this happen many times. It is annoying but it does happen. I hope this helps.

Im trying to change the altinator in my 2003 silverado v-6. i took the two bolts out the electric componets and still cant get it loose.

Hi: !st Thing you need to do is disconnect your negative battery cable to prevent more damage. If i'm understanding you Right you Took the Wiring off the Alternator.Or did you Remove the Mounting Bolts? Here Goes Disconnect Battery, Loosen the Bolt on the Alternator Adjuster Bracket, This will give you Some Slack in the Belt ,BUT Locate the Belt Tensioner take a Breaker Bar or The Correct Size Boxed in Wrench or use a Ratchet and Socket. The Tension Is Spring Loaded to Keep Your Belt From Coming OFF. Your Belt Runs Probally Everything like your Alternator ,Water Pump,A/C Compressor,Power Steering So On. So Until you Take the Belt Either OFF or Just Release the Tension on the Belt,I'm Sure if you Have Removed All mounting Bolts and Your Wires to The Alternator, Your Alternator Will Come on Out with a Little Light Effert. Be Sure You Watch How Eveything Comes Off Cause You'll Have To Reverse the Way you Took It Off To Put it Back Together. Be Sure You Look At the Belt Routing Diagram Which is on either your Cross bar By The Radiator. Its Say Belt Routing Diagram. Hope This Gets you Going It Should. If You Follow These Instructions.
