Have 4 prong trailer plug with 5 wires how to hook up extra wire

The 4 prong plug will have 5 wires attached to it.
The white wire is the ground and is attached to the trailer frame near the front. There will be two brown wires and one goes down each side of the trailer. These wires will have a connection at the side marker lights near the front of the fenders. They will then continue to the tail lights. The light bar in the center is also connected to the brown wire.
The yellow wire at the plug is for the left stoplight and the green is for the right stoplight. One of the wires out of the taillights will be brown and the other wire will not match the color of the harness wire.

Need to hook uo a flat four trailer conector ,dont know ford

The rear lights :

Brown is the parking lamps ( either side )

Driver's side Stop / Turn : Light green w/ White stripe wire
Pass Side Stop / Turn : White w/ Light blue stripe wire

Another option ( for use with the factory trailer circuits ) is to add / replace the factory tow adapter. eTrailer has them, if you are interested. This is the type adapter as Ford p/n: YL3Z-13A576-G. You would need to install the relay and the fuses for the trailer circuits if you do this.

Wire harness for trailer

You will need a test light, don't worry about the colors. Four wires, one for left turn signal, one for right turn signal, one for parking lights, and one is ground(usually black). Hook up ground, turn on trucks left signal and hookup to one of trailers other three wires, you will either light up the correct light or wrong one just continue til lights match coming off your truck to what you want to light up. And brake lights are left and right signal, so if you do signals the brake light will work. I can explain further if you need help.
