2004 jaguar x type saloon towbar fitment.

Were thinking of geting a towbar for our 2004 jaguar x type saloon. it has reversing sensors in the rear bumper and we dont want it to interfere with those and beep all the time.Anyone know of a make/type of towbar that is suitable. ive simulated having a towbar by putting a strip of wood against the back of the car. The sensors pick this up sometimes? Thanks. ed.

You will have to get a factory approved kit . Any modification to the lighting system will interfere with the Bulb faifure warning as the wattages and resistances will be altered outside the normal Jaguar settings. There is designated kits for these types of electrical systems from quality tow bar makers .......

The best solution is to use a Vehicle Specific Dedicated wiring kit on this car, (about £175) Thos will then plug straight into the cars electrics on the rear and will automatically cut off your parking sensors when you plug the trailer in. Alternatively, to cut off the parking sensors there is a small grey (I think) connector under the left rear light. if you earth the wire on this with a switch it will cut the sensors off, test with a bulb on a wire connected to earth first in case there is power on the connector you test....

I would thoroughly check the owner's guide; I think they can be disabled through settings and re-enabled the same way.

My 2003 Jaguar S-Type has a faulty Reverse Park Control system. When shifting into Reverse gear, a constant tone sounds until the gear is shifted into a forward gear or neutral. What are the usual causes...

This is a sensor fault. The easiest way to locate wich sensor is faulty is to get up close to the sensors when the car is in reverse gear (engine off) with the ignition on and put your thumb nail on the sensor face as this will amplify the ticking noise that can be heard from the sensors. No tick indicates a sensor fault.

To disconnect the system will just give you the same problem with the constant tone unless you disconnect the park aid module wich is located in the boot of the vehicle on the left hand side behind the carpet trim. Beware that the handbrake module is there so ensure that you are looking at the right module (it will say on it)

Sensors are not expensive unless you need to have them painted to body coulor as they come in black. Easy push in/out fitment from the behind the bumper. Corner sensors can be replaced with the bumper in situ but centre sensors require the bumper to be removed.

Hope that helps

Jaguar 2005 X-type estate towbar electric connector.

The Jaguar doesn't have a towbar connector as such, there is a dedicated towbar wiring kit available, this plugs into the lamp connectors and has a towing module incorporated into the kit.It also has a small connector that plugs in to a spare connector in the loom for cutting off the parking sensors when you plug in your trailer. If you are in the UK then check on the NTTA website for a towvbar supplier that can either send one out or is local to you.

Cant find the towbar electrics plugs for x-type

I assume that the towbar didn't come with a proper wiring kit as, unfortunately there is not a specific connector for the towbar wiring on the x-type, the proper Vehicle Specific Kit plugs into the rear light. There is a power connector with three pins on the left and a grey reverse sensor cut out connector also on the left. but you will either need to use a Vehicle Specific Wiring kit (about £175) or use a bypass relay system.
