My front heater blows out cold air only and only blows on defrost........was wondering if it could be relay switch?

Might want to also check your actuator. You can also check by touch, both heater hoses that go into the vehicle by the firewall. If they are both hot, you know that warm water is circulating. If, however, only one hose is hot, then you might have a clogged heater core or bad thermo-stat. To confirm a bad T-stat, touch both upper and lower radiator hoses which should be hot. If only one hot, you have a bad component.

I have a honda civic lxi 1994 it keeps running hot, and does the fans have a delay until the radiator is hot?

Rads have a delay, but shoud come on when the temp guage reads half, if the fans are not coming on then first change the thermo stat, then the temp sensor if the fans are not coming on.

Engine Gets Hot, thermo stat replaced, new radiator, water pump works. What's wrong?

possible head gasket failure or cracked head. Check for water in exhaust to confirm. Remove/inspect spark plugs for water/coolant.

Car run hot possible radiator got a hole and/or water pump coing bad.put water in it...water blows back at you.change thermo stat.

it cant be hot when you do it . you have to start the filling prosess when its cool.you will get a air pocket that wont go away. air pocket causes steam. you have to fill as the car warms up.

Need to replace thermostat and temperature sensor to pass emmission test. easy to do ???- budget!!!

its fairly easy (don't do this while hot) temp is around 180-200* you want to place a bucket or drain pan under the the front where the drain chock is located open so that you drain about 1-1.5 gal's out of the radiator (it would be good to have some cat litter handy and clean up right away so that shoud you have a dog his/she is not poisened follow the top radiator hose to the thermostat and remove the 2 bolts on each side "if lucky you have the rubber gasket to seal the housing back up. replace the thermo with new unit (some aftermarket parts companys give you a cheeze rubber gasket its best to reuse the old rubber gasket in this case) locate temp sensor unscrew after disconecting wire reconect wire after installing sensor refill antifreeze with fresh 50/50 mix start car or van let run with presser cap off so that the system can bleed out the air out of the system then top off coolent after engine has reached operating tempature continue checking with cap off. turn hearter control to max hot add fluid to overflow tank replace cap to the hot mark drive couple times around the block and check tank let car/van sit for a few minute's to cool down check tank should read full or needs fluid add as needed check for leakswhen done clean drive

Thermostat replacement in 1985. Need diagram or very explicit intructions.

The thermostat housing is on the left side of the engine at the front, bolted to the side of the block with two bolts - top and bottom of the housing. Obviously, before starting, let engine cool and release pressure from system, drain out coolant (about half) so little is lost when stat housing removed. If coolant is old, this is a good time to replace it. When replacing the stat, get a SAAB stat, as it's a three stage stat, not a two stage (open and closed) as are most after market stats. If you car runs hot in traffic or hot days, consider the low temp stat (and rad fan thermo switch also) to extend engine life. Tighten the bolts to 13 ft-lb. Refill and bleed out any air. Hope this helps, give a "thumbs up" if it does; thanks Saabreur
