My gas gauge goes from full to empty and stays on empty even when the tank is full.

Common problem on the 03-06 Trailblazer instrument clusters for the fuel gauge to go out. It's usually caused by one of two main problems, either the stepper motor on the cluster's circuit board is going out or the sending unit on the fuel pump is going out. This morning I had 1/2 tank of gas. I stopped to

the fuel level gauge just went out na dthats why the light is on. to replace it you have to replace the entire sending unit. cost is $500.00 plus to have replaced. if you can live with it and keep check on your milage, I would wait for the pump to go out.

Full tank of gas and getting low fuel indicator on dash

Bad fuel level sensor. Unfortunately it is located inside the gas tank. Fairly common problem on GM's. Due to sulphur in fuel. Corrodes the sensor tabs. Expensive to have repalced and NOT a do-it-yourself project, unless you have dropped a tank before.

Fuel gauge stop working

Most likely the sending unit has gone bad.Removal of the tank is how to change the sending unit in the tank,It may only be available with the fuel pump assembely. To check it,disconnect the fuel pump at the fuel tank. With the key on,the gauge should peg out past full.

2006 Chevy Trailblazer fuel gauge stays on empty

Could be a
1. Fuse - not likely, I'd expect other instrument panel problems.
2. Broken wire from fuel gauge
3. Bad fuel sender in fuel tank. Normally requires dropping the tank.

Vehicle is not that old, would think it is still under warranty?

After just fueling up my 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer 4x4, the fuel gauge started going erratic and now sits on "E" and the low fuel light is on. Anyone know what this could be?

could be your sending unit in the tank which then float is broken and sitting on the bottom of the tank or an electrical problem, bad wire.

Fuel gauge

khooper, in another forum, told me that "Chevron Techron Fuel System Treatment Plus can remove harmful sulfur deposits from the sending unit and a filmer agent that can prevent the deposition of said sulfur"

My 05 Trailblazer LT 2WD.
Erratic readings, and when the fuel level was below 1/2 full, the needle would sit on "Empty" with the amber light staying on.

So I went to a dealer, they replaced the fuel level sensor (p/n 19177712 SEN KIT 3.107 $118.62) with labor $270.00 for a total of $398.86 this appears to have fixed it for now.

I also talked to another mechanic who blames ethanol for these deposits !

Fuel Gauge reads empty, but tank IS full

the float in your gas tank seems to have water in it....water is heavier than gas, that's why gas floats on top of water....try putting something like HEAT in it to dry up the water in your tank....
