2007 Toyota Yaris Sedan check engine light error code P2420

rule 1, P2 means private Toyota code DCT.
where did you see this. on the dash, at autozoned. or where?
where, counts.
2420 means EVAP failure.
bar stool, the gas tank vents are SNAFU'd or FUBAR.
they leak. that is the purpose of evap is to stop fuel fumes from leaking to our fresh air.
and runs test full time. to make that happen.
if it fails the car will not explode or do something dangerous.
i never use forums to find truth here, as most are full of rumor and bull.
i use real Toyota data (the FSM)
data;
Vent valve stuck open (vent)
Following condition met during key-off EVAP monitor:
  • EVAP pressure change when vent valve closed (ON) less than 0.3 kPa-g (2.25 mmHg-g)
that is metric, pressure, convert as you see fit.

  • Canister pump module (Reference orifice, leak detection pump, vent valve)
  • Connector/wire harness (Canister pump module - ECM)
  • ECM
While ignition switch OFF

the PCM toggles the vent valve. and expects a .3kPa change.

id say tighten the gas cap, and reset the eCU, with any scan tool.

see if it comes back, costs zero, effort 5min.
then if it comes back check cap for damage or replace it.
if that dont fix it you will need to test the system.
the FSM covers all that. doing leak down tests, etc.
do you want to do that?
yes, then log in to alldata.com and read.

Have codes P0441, P0442, and P0446. What could be the problem?

this obd2 trouble code table can help you understand the meaning of code.
and for p0441, you can try:
Repair damaged EVAP lines or canister.

Repair open or short in voltage feed circuit to Purge Solenoid.

Repair open in PCM purge command circuit.

Replace purge Solenoid.

Replace vacuum switch.

Repair restriction in Evap line or canister or soleniod.

Repair resistance in purge connector.

Replace PCM.

for p0442

Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the codes, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back.

Otherwise, replace the gas cap, or

Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses.

2001 toyota 4runner< engine light on, code comes out to be - p0441 auto zone said change gas cap, i did, 2 weeks later light comes on again< what do you think?

You can get this code if you don't tighten the gas cap all the way, or the gas cap is bad. I will put all the detail for the code below and what I would do to fix the problem...

NOTE: Do not top off your tank either. This could cause the 'overfill check valve' to fail, and could cause this code.

Definition of P0441: Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect
Purge Flow

Detection logic:
DTCs P0441 and P0446 are recorded by the ECM when evaporative emissions leak from the emissions components
or when there is a malfunction in either the VSV for EVAP, the VSV for
pressure switching valve, or in the vapor pressure sensor itself.
detection cause: Pressure in charcoal canister and fuel tank does not drop or
drop in pressure increased beyond the specified limit during
purge control (2 trip detection logic)

What I would do:
1. Replace fuel cap and reset computer. If code returns, then proceed to next

The next steps require a diagram, so the purchase of service manual to locate the components is very helpful

2. Check for vacuum leaks in ALL emission hoses
3. Check VSV valve operation (there are three; they are ~$75 new from dealer, and sometimes fail)
4. Check for cracks or leaks around or in the charcoal canister (usually requires a smoke machine)
5. check for voltage to VSV's
6. Last resort: take it to the dealer and have them run a diagnosis. This should run between $50-$100.

Good luck!

El ploblema es que prende la luz de las mil y sale el codigo p2420 y p0441

P0441 Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect Purge Flow
P2420 Evaporative Emission System Switching Valve Control Circuit High

I feel like hot air coming from underneath the dash board

Why are you asking this here? Surely you have warranty on a 2008. Take it to the dealer and make your concerns known.

Engine light keeps coming on

The P-0440, P-0441 and P-0446 indicates that you have a leak in the "fume" side of the system. Normally, seeing a 440-441-446 is a loose or defective fuel cap. One would NOT change the evap VSV for a 440-441-446 set of codes. At this point, I agree with you regarding the trust issue. Regarding the caisiter, I cannot speculate yes or no, without further info/codes/etc from your dealer, but, I have replaced several over the past few years; this "could" be true....

Engin light stays on in my toyota corolla

the car has been back to the dealer 4 times for the same problem. First time they claimed that they replaced malfunction tank by-pass vsv and codes mentioned are P0440, P0441 and P0446 that were malfunction. the second time they connected the car to their computer and re-scan the vehicle and told us that everything is working fine and the engine light is off, but after one day the light came back and the car went back to the dealer for the third time and now they claim that the problem is from charcoal canister and has to be changed. also after the second visit as soon as i got in my car i could small gas and it hasn't gone away and the dealer says they did nothing wrong and all the problem is from the canister. we really don't know if we can trust what they say.

1996 Toyota Previa code p0441

P0441 is Evap Emission Incorrect Purge Flow; the repair you are describing is easy, and should correct the P0441 restricition...I would anticipate no large problems.
