Why does 2000 s40 volvo turbo runs hot and the fan stays on after shut off

fans are designed to run on after you shut engine down as engine temperature rise after switching off . running hot could be caused by the top hose having gone soft when you rev the engine the water pump sucks the hose flat stopping the coolant flow or the radiator is blocked and need flushing out

I have a 91 Nissan pickup d21 2.4 liter engine 2 wheel drive I have replace water pump thermostat radiator radiator hoses have bled the lines and it still runs hot water boiling in overflow.while truck is...

If you have a viscous fan hub then have it replaced as it is not moving the air through the radiator. Check how you placed the thermostat in the system as the bulb bit faces into the head or block so that it can sense the rising water temperature and open as required.. With not water moving through the hose I suspect that may be your problem

Dodge neon overheating

I would be thinking radiator or water pump. When the engine is warmed up and the upper hose is hot, feel the lower radiator hose. It should be hot too, just a little cooler than the upper hose. If there is some blockage in the radiator, the lower hose may feel cold or just lukewarm.
Even though the water pump doesn't leak, the impellers may be made of plastic and have considerable wear. That would restrict circulation.
The heater core should not be an issue. Heater cores do not cause overheating even when totally plugged up.

My heat in my truck comes and goes but the temp gauage stays at normal range

It is possible that the coolant is a little low causing the heater core to get "air locked" Check your coolant level. There could also be a problem with your water pump not able to pump correctly due to a worn or corroded impeller. This will usually cause the heater temperature to fluctuate widely with engine RPM. There is allways some fluctuation caused by RPM, but if it is a large fluctuation, it usually means low water pump output or possibly a partially clogged heater core.
Feel the hoses going into and out of the heater core. They should both be hot. There may be a 20 or 30 degree difference in temperature, but both should feel very hot to the touch. If one is really hot and the other just feels warm, the heater core is probably clogged. If you have access to an infrared thermometer, taking the temperature of the hoses is the best way to check this.
If both hoses feel "Warm" at idle and get really hot when the throttle is cracked open for a short period (20-30 Seconds ), the water pump may be the problem.

My 1998 Honda Civic runs hot after A/C on for a while even though there is plenty of antifreeze in container. Replaced thermostat 6 months ago. What do I do next?

take it for a drive and when its hot feel both pipes coming out of the radiator.if both are hot then the thermostat and water pump is ok.then check if your fan is working.it should start spinning automatically when the temperature gets high without the A/C on.If thats ok then check if the radiator is clear in the front and that nothing is blocking the air from flowing through it to cool the water and antifreeze.

Water was boiling and spraying from overflow / reservoir tank from what appears to be a factory made hole. was there a plug in there that might have rotted off and caused this?

well that mean that oone your thermostat is not opening or your water pump or possible that a hose might be collapsing to cause the water not to flow

1997 eldorado still runs hot

Are you sure it's not air locked? Run it with the rad cap off and keep watching the water level. It might go up and down and then finally drop. Maybe even try letting some air out of one of your heater hoses if you can.

Overheating

Make sure you don't have a bad head-gasket. Check for excessive pressure in radiator or hoses. Check under oil cap for creamy/milk like residue or actual antifreeze in oil or the opposite oil in antifreeze. Let me know what you find. Good Luck
