Question about 1999 Buick LeSabre

Changed intake manifold gasket and installed new plentum on 1999 buick lesabre. Replaced EGR valve because scanner said bad. I get a intermittent hesitation at excelleration the engine light will flash and then stay on solid. Periodically it will go off. Read the fault code and said misfire. Chnaged plugs and wires when intake replaced. Remvoed the thre coil packs and they measure resistance under where the spade lug go, they are all simular in ohmic values. Buick has 216000 miles, is it one of the three coils or should I replace them all?

Flash is misfire than steady is fault code misfire can be from anything from air cleaner clogged to mass air flow sensor to pcv valve,vacuum leak etc u already changed egr need to have scanned for more specific code code number breaks down to emissions mechanical and or manufactures specific code

What is a egr valve


  1. Install a tachometer on the engine, following the manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Detach the engine wiring harness connector from the Idle Air Control (IAC) solenoid.
  3. Disconnect and plug the vacuum supply hose from the EGR valve.
  4. Start the engine, then apply the parking brake, block the rear wheels and position the transmission in Neutral.
  5. Observe and note the idle speed.
If the engine will not idle with the IAC solenoid disconnected, provide an air bypass to the engine by slightly opening the throttle plate or by creating an intake vacuum leak. Do not allow the idle speed to exceed typical idle rpm.
Using a hand-held vacuum pump, slowly apply 5-10 in. Hg (17-34 kPa) of vacuum to the EGR valve nipple.
  1. If the idle speed drops more than 100 rpm with the vacuum applied and returns to normal after the vacuum is removed, the EGR valve is OK.
  2. If the idle speed does not drop more than 100 rpm with the vacuum applied and return to normal after the vacuum is removed, inspect the EGR valve for a blockage; clean it if a blockage is found. Replace the EGR valve if no blockage is found, or if cleaning the valve does not remedy the malfunction.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the vacuum hose from the EGR valve.
  3. Using a 22mm wrench or crowfoot, disconnect the EGR valve-to-exhaust manifold tube from the EGR valve.
  4. Remove the EGR valve mounting fasteners, then separate the valve from the intake manifold.
  5. Remove and discard the old EGR valve gasket, and clean the gasket mating surfaces on the valve and the intake manifold.
To install:
  1. Install the EGR valve, along with a new gasket, on the upper intake manifold, then install and tighten the mounting bolts to 15-22 ft. lbs. (20-30 Nm).
  2. Connect the EGR valve-to-exhaust manifold tube to the valve, then tighten the tube nut to 26-47 ft. lbs. (35-65 Nm).
  3. Connect the vacuum hose to the EGR valve.
  4. Connect the negative battery cable.

  3. Remove the two EGR tube-to-EGR valve retaining nuts.
  4. Remove the EGR valve mounting fasteners, then separate the valve from the intake manifold.
  5. Remove and discard the old EGR valve gasket, and clean the gasket mating surfaces on the valve and the intake manifold.
To install:
  1. Install the EGR valve, along with a new gasket, on the upper intake manifold, then install and tighten the mounting bolts to 15-22 ft. lbs. (20-30 Nm).

Low oil pressure after heads replaced


Was the oil changed? Has the low pressure been verified with a mechanical test gauge at the oil pressure sending unit pressure port? Do that 1st before assuming the pressure is low.

Engine Cold Starting Problem


the first test is to have the fault codes read rather than replace everything to find the problem
electronic cars have an electronic choke that is worked by the ECM getting reports from the ambient temperature sensor and the baro ( barometric pressure sensor) so as to know what fuel setting to apply when starting
without those reports the ECM assumes that the car is hot and so does not enrich the fuel setting for cold weather starting

Where do I find the EGR valve on a 1995 subaru Legacy 250T automatic


  1. Detach the vacuum hose from the EGR valve.
  2. Remove the two nuts which secure the EGR valve to the intake manifold assembly.
  3. Remove the valve and gasket from the manifold.
  4. Clean all gasket material from both mating surfaces.
  5. Check the vacuum hose for deterioration and replace as necessary.

To install:

  1. Inspect the exhaust gas passages in the intake manifold and clean as necessary. Clean the EGR valve assembly as necessary.
  2. Using a new gasket, install the EGR valve.
  3. Tighten the EGR valve securing nuts to 17-19 ft. lbs. (22-25 Nm).
  4. Install the hose on the EGR valve.f9ec12f.gif

EGR Valve Testing

SECTION 303-08: Engine Emission Control 1999 Cougar Workshop Manual REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Removal
  1. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
    1. Disconnect the intake air bypass hose.
    1. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation hoses.
    1. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
  1. Disconnect the tube from the exhaust gas recirculation valve.
  1. Remove the exhaust gas recirculation valve.
    • Disconnect the vacuum hose.
Installation
  1. sxu~us~en~file=ani_caut.gif~gen~ref.gif CAUTION: When cleaning the gasket faces, do not allow debris to enter the intake manifold or exhaust gas recirculation valve.
    Clean the gasket faces of the intake manifold and exhaust gas recirculation valve.
  1. Install a new exhaust gas recirculation valve gasket.
  1. Position the EGR valve and install the bolts.
    • Install the vacuum hose.
  1. Connect the EGR tube.

The EGR valve may have a protective cover on it:

After removing the cover, the egr valve is beneath, you will need to remove retaining clips to remove the egr valve.

Code is po300 multiple cylinder misfire. intermittent..


vacuum leaks, plugs, check the wires for corrosion on the coil packs, the 3800's are known for corroded contacts there, also a common problem is the intake gasket leaking near the egr valve, check to see if it is wet around where the egr valve enters the intake manifold, check for fuel pressure, and make sure all the sensors and vac lines are plugged in properly

My 1995 Buick Lesabre is misfiring


If it only happens at a certain point in the throttle travel, it may be a bad TPS. You would need a computer to confirm loss of signal, but that is what it sounds like.
