To query and OBD-I-era computer for these codes, put the key in the ignition and turn the key to run (not start), then off, then run, then off, then run (that's 3 runs and 2 offs). Leave the key in the run position.

The check engine light will turn on for a few seconds, then turn off, then (sometimes after 20-30 seconds) start flashing. The flashes are counting out 2-digit trouble codes. Fast flashes count up each digit, with a longer pause between digits. On TJ's with a digital odometer, the code numbers are printed on the odometer in addition to flashing the check engine light. 55 indicates the end of all codes. Once you've got your code list, consult the table below to see what they mean.

OBD-II information is more complex, so the codes for 1998 and newer Jeeps can't be displayed by flashing the check engine light. However, those vehicles which have digital odometers will display the codes on the odometer. I've verified this personally on a 1999 WJ. For those vehicles without digital odometers, or for anybody who wants an English description rather than just a numeric code, an OBD-II code scanner ($100-300) can be plugged in under the dash. OBD-II codes can be looked up online here.

These codes were taken from the '95 XJ/YJ factory service manual.

I hope help you woth this. Good luck (rated this).

What are the diagnostic codes for a 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan

You can try cycling the ignition switch, on--off, on--off, on, then the mil starts flashing, You count the flashes to get the codes, usually two digit codes. Post the code number, me or somebody will try to help.
If cycling the ignition switch won't work, try an obd 2 code reader. Some of the national brand auto stores will check po codes for free.

Why would you do 10 minute key trick ? Is the SECURITY light on steady ? Just a code reader ? Checks just Engine PCM codes ! Need a professional type scan tool to check codes in the BCM - body control module ! Don't know what and how much you know about these GM vehicles ? The ignition switch is a low voltage input to the BCM ! To determine power mode , off ,ACC , run , crank
On vehicles that have several control modules connected by serial data circuits, one module is the Power Mode Master, PMM. On this vehicle the PMM is the BCM. The PMM receives 3 discreet ignition switch signals to differentiate which power mode will be sent over the Class 2 Serial Data circuit.
To determine the correct power mode the PMM uses the following circuits:
• Ignition 0
• Ignition 1 voltage
• Ignition 3 voltage
Discrete Ignition Signals
Those modules that have discrete ignition signal inputs also remain in the state dictated by the last valid PMM message received on the serial data circuits. They then check the state of their discrete ignition input to determine the current valid state. If the discrete ignition input is active, battery positive voltage, the modules will fail-safe to the RUN power mode. If the discrete ignition input is not active, open or 0 voltage, the modules will fail-safe to OFF-AWAKE. In this state the modules are constantly checking for a change status message on the serial data circuits and can respond to both local inputs and serial data inputs from other modules on the vehicle . If you don't know anything about this your best bet , take it to a GM dealer . Without knowing what state the BCM is in or seeing from the ignition switch or if DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes are stored , can't give you any sound advice . Would only be guessing !

Turn the ignition key on-off-on-off-on as fast as you can, leaving it turned on at the last turn and the codes will flash out from the check engine light.

if any codes buy or borrow a reader --when it dies test and check for fuel --test and check relay --what is the oil pressure no pressure bad sensor will shut you down --fuel filter--egr --catalytic converter-throttle body sensors-throttle body itself ---these are some of the reasons that your truck can act as it does so you will need a code reader multi meter--pressure readers -to test and determine your problem

I have this model Saturn (2003 LW300), and bought a code reader off Ebay. Make sure it is a compatible "OBD2" type, and plug is seated firmly with ignition switch off. Then turn on ignition without starting car. Press "Enter" or something on reader to start it and it should work.

LEXUS LS 2004 Maint Reqd (Master warning light) how I can switch off after change the oil engine?

You can disconnect your battery for 15 minutes or pull the fuse for an ECM or PCM fuse, but the best way is to visit any local repair shop. Most shops will have a universal Check Engine Light Code Reader that can quickly and safely reset check engine light trouble codes. It should take about 30 seconds.

Ask your local service center if they could reset the check engine light with a Check Engine Light Code Reader.
