Sounds like a dead battery, Are you using the key or the remote? If you have a remote, is it not working either?

The remote on my 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix has slowly gotten weaker and now all I can work is the trunk and panic button functions. I have the second remote that has not been used for months and worked fine...

OK, if a new battery has been put into the unit and that rectifies the situation, then you may have to keep on putting fresh batteries into the remote to keep it working optimally.I have never heard of a a wireless remote system having to be 'woken up.' In this digital age, either the remote will work or not depending on how much of a charge or voltage the battery has in it for the remote. Perhaps, using one more than the other remote causes one to have more or less charge compared to the other.

There is nothing that can be done besides changing the battery in the remote. Perhaps try a Lithium battery if you haven't already done so for longer life.

Good luck on this.

My Porsche Key fob no longer unlocks the doors

Insert key into door barrel or ignition lock and turn key, whilst doing this press the unlock/lock button, the led on the dash should flash to indicate this has initialised the key to the car, then remove key and test operation of remote. If this fails then a new remote plus coding to the car by your dealership is needed
