Generally with the sun roof, If you open it and look in from above, If the drainage is blocked you will see excess water that wont go away. If there is no excess water then the chances of it being a blockage are minimal, its more likely to be a gap in the rubber seal allowing the water to seap through to the interior. If it is the seal, which i guess it is as they crack over time, then these are generally quite cheap from your local motor store.

Hope this is of some help the discovery sunroof is very much like the renault clio and the problems are the same. If you find that the pipes are not blocked then it will be that the water is coming in under the sunroof frame. Any water that gets under the frame will not get to the drain pipes. The only way to stop this is to remove and reseal the sunroof. As a guide you can follow my info on how to fix a clio sunroof they only difference is you need to remove the sunroof visors and storage compartment at the front before the headlining can be pulled down to enable you to get to the bolts also remove the motor from the sunroof.

'06 Chrysler Pacifica w/sunroof: When it rains water is leaking out of the front door frame covers and sun visor screws. (Sun roof is closed.)

hi i'm not familar with your car but if you can wind the sunroof back so the sunroof is fully open look at all four corners where the sunroof sits into there should be at least 2 drain holes which can over time become clogged with debris, if you find them use some warm water and flexi pipe to clean the drain holes out. hope this helps

I have a 2005 Altima and there is a leak in the front passenger side under the carpet. Terrible mold smell. We've pulled the carpet back and the jute is soaked. Any idea where the water could be coming...

1) Check the pollen filter, its probably in a poor state if its not been changed yet.
2) Check the bulk head drains.
3) Check the sun roof drain pipes (usually run from under the sun roof, down the door pillars to the wheel arches, often covered by an plastic inner wing) clear out all the mud and debris.

Water in floor on both sides of car

1) Could be your sun roof drain, if you have a sun roof. The drain runs from the corners of the sun roof recess usually down the front side pillars and our of the whell arch. Check the flow path is clear. Had to clear mine a couple of weeks ago, found that mud was piling up under wheel arch behind the plastic arch screen, had to dig it out, ok now.

2) Could be your pollen filter is blocked, check and change.

3) Make sure all your door seals are good.

4) Make sure all the engine bay, bulk head drainage channels are clear.

5) Check your coolant levels, if the heater matrix has a hole, could leak inside the car, can be fixed with a proprietry solution, one I know is Radweld., pour it in the header tank, top up the coolant and go for a spin.

Sunroof blocked drains

the drain holes are located at each corner of the sun roof carrier. you will need to open the sun roof all the way to be able to see the drain holes. the drain pipes run down the A and C posts of the vehicle. [A post front] [C post rear]. the easiest way to clear them is to use a flexible piece of cable pushed down from the top. if they are not blocked, the pipes may be off on the under side of the sun roof carrier. this usually happens if somebody has been doing panel work on the vehicle and forget to reconnect pipes. to rectify this you will have to lower roof lining. pipes just push on.

2003 lincoln towncar the back floorboard fills up with water. I have taken out everything in back, tried to find the pipe that takes out water for the sun roof, everytime it rains or I drive in it it fills...

quickest way is too drill a hole in the floor ,what comes in can go out again .now as for finding the leak ?? the last one i done was a nissan and i had to try to poke a thin wire down it and blow it through with a airline ,their was four water outlets on that car two at the front and two at the back ,the fronts dripped out at the front and the rears run down the centre door pillars.

Water leaks in above and behind dashboard passenger side..onto floor board when it rains. Took it to dealer last time..charged 80 bucks told something was clogged but they would not tell me how to remedy...

There is only one thing that will cause it if you have a Sun roof and that is the water drain pipe from the roof to the wheel arch were it drains out and this bunged up,so blow it out with air compressor or high water pipe.
IF no to sunroof then its the windscreen leaking at the top and you might not beable to see it it will be at the top But dont try and fix it as the screen has to come out to do the job correctly.
But if only leaks water on floor and not on top of dash it could be the vent under windscreen were the wipers go and the vent drains the rain also to the left and right side of wheel arch, then they can be blocked and overflowing into the air box for the heater because that is where the air comes from when on FRESH AIR for heater..So check them out and do as required it shouldent cost you anything unless its the screen out..Job Have a goodday Let me know how you get on Ron

Leaking sunroof with 2 inches of water in car

I had the same problem... fairly simple fix. Just park the truck so the front end is lower than the back. Open then sun roof and you will see in each corner on the front of the sun roof that there is a little hole..this is the drain hole. Pour some water down the hole and see if either one is backed up. (If so keep reading for the solution) If not, park so the back of the truck is lower than the front. The channel that leads to the front drain also leads back behind the rear doors to the rear drain for the sun roof. Pour water in the channel and see if it drains. It will drain right in front of the rear tire, just behind the running board. If you dont get any drainage, you found the clogged drain. To clean the front draines, simply blow it out with an air compressor. For the back ones, you should check underneath the vehicle right in front of the rear tire and see if you can find the drain. If there is debris or dirt there, it could be clogging it. Clean it up and try again to see if you can get some drainage. If it isn't draining and the bottom of the drain is clean, it looks like you are going to have to tear down the head liner and try the same steps as cleaning the front draines. Good luck, and I hope this helps!

2004 Expedition Sun Roof Leaks

you have 2 drains in the front that go down the a pillars and dump near the fenders.

The rear usually go down the B pillar or C pillar and out thebottom near the rocker panel.

Blow them out from the top with compressed air and make sure you have air flow at the exits.. Open the roof to see drain holes in the four corners.

  • The roof opening panel leaks
  • Roof opening panel adjustment.
  • Front rail seal.
  • Drain tube attachment points.
  • Roof opening panel water trough and seal.
  • Roof opening panel drain hose.

The sunroof drainage gets blocked.

your footwells will fill with water - even under your seats right to the back seats footwells

See two 10mm holes in front sides when sunroof is open.
a) push a flexible cable down from the top - it comes out just behind the front wheels. (use electric three core cable - or TV aerial cable - a hanger is too short) - you need about a metre and a half)
b) remove the inner mudgaurd behind the front wheels (2 screws) you will see the end of the plastic drainage pipes - remove the blocked black rubber cup at the end of these - why they are there is anybody's guess)
