Question about 1998 Toyota Corolla

I have a 1998 Toyota Corolla that was running just great until one night the lights wouldn't shut off, not even when the engine was turned off. What's wrong and how do I fix?

Sounds like you have a relay stuck in the closed position. This is the relay that controlls the auto on/off head lights. When you turn the car off with the headlights on the relay is triggered as soon as you open your door, then the headlights turn off to keep you from running your battery down. I would suspect this is the problem. Replace the relay once tested bad.

My toyota corolla runs fine last night. this morning car don't want to start, engine is cranking and it runs at very low rpm and dies.. I check the fuse and relay.looks ok.

If no engine light is on,#1check and make sure no hoses sre broke or sucking shut.#2pull the air cleaner and try it.#3 change your fuel filter and check fuel pressure.#4 disconnect exhaust infront of cat converter. could be alot of things but this is where i would start.

My 2000 Toyota Corolla headlights will not turn on during the night, and stay on during the day

Your Corolla has daytime running lights (DRLs). A photocell determines whether it is day or night. Your DRLs turn on automatically in daytime without you operating the light control ("headlight") switch. Your DRLs are actually your headlights on low beam. At night, the photocell senses it is dark and disables the DRLs. When you set the light control ("headlight") switch to HEAD, the head relay closes and the headlights should turn on. Since they don't, I suggest opening the engine room junction block and checking the 40A MAIN fuse and the 10A LEFT HEAD (UPPER) and RIGHT HEAD (UPPER) fuses. In engine room relay block 5, check the 10A LH-LWR HEAD and RH-LWR HEAD fuses. Replace any blown fuses and the headlights should be working normally again

I have 98 toyota corolla ce and the headlights stay on everytime i turn the engine on...my question is how can i turn them off in the daytime???

In Canada it's mandatory to have DRL(Daytime Running Lights). Your Corolla probably has this feature built in. it is a safety thing however I can understand you wanting them off if it's not the law where you live.
In our 1998 Corolla, I use the parking brake all the time - every time I park - and I've noticed the lights do not come on until I release the parking brake after starting the motor. When I park the car, until I shut off the engine, the lights stay on regardless of the parking brake status however, if I shut off the engine and restart with the parking brake on, the lights do not come on.
If you "adjust' the parking brake switch(i.e.: make e-brake light in your dash it stay on all the time) your lights will not go on until you turn them on via the multifunction lever(left side of wheel). This of course negates the benefits of the e-brake light working correctly (warning you that your e-brake is on or that your brake fluid level is low) which in itself is not so safe!
There is a fuse/relay (I think) in the big fusebox under the hood that has a DRL "spot", you might want to check if you can remove it and still turn the lights on manually when you want them on. Alternately, there is a fuse in the interior fuse box(in Canadian models anyway) labelled DRL. When that fuse is out, it seems the lights only turn ob when I turn them on manually.
Hope this helps and God bless,
Gilbert

1998 toyota crolla battery hooked up wrong, car starts but no acc

I believe the reason the lights would still work is due to the fact a light bulb doesn't discriminate about polarity. It would be fair to say you have fried relays in your car. These should be located in something that looks like a fuse box in your engine bay. Some may also be in your fusebox. Hope this helps and good luck.

1998 toyota corolla shakes before 2 rpm, check engine lights up

Not sure what is causing it, but it sounds like you're running on 3 cyllinders. Check plugs, wires, timing . timing belt may have jumped, bad injector, low fuel pressure.
