2001 rav4 making vibrating noises and smells of dead animal when I turn the heater/ac on

What you should do is to remove the heater blower motor, it's located directly below the glove box, there are three screws that need to be removed and the electrical connector, usually rodents get trapped in the fan, this is what causes the vibration, the fan is out of balance because the dead animal is in there, not a pleasant task but I have seen this may times

Fan does not work on stage 1 to 3

The fan speed is reduced to less than full by a coil of resistor wire usually stuck in the air housing under the hood near the fan. Look for a section with three or four wires and some screws to remove a section. This needs to be replaced

I have a 94 plymouth sundance 6 cylinder the fan that cools he radiator is not working what is he problem

3liter 6cyl? (5 or 6 engines used, 2.2L up to 3.8)
in all cases (engine rad cooling fan) (seems not)
clutch fan failure? (if old mech. type fan) replace it.
if electric fan?
  1. bad control sensor.
  2. bad controller
  3. bad fan relay
  4. bad fan
  5. bad wire/ connections between them.

what we do is get it hot and see if fan works at the FSM stated trip temperature. (225F is a guess, ) alldata.com has this number too.
if the fan is dead, we check voltage the fan, 12v ? fan is dead.
0 volts? yes, then control is bad.
the work backwards from here, finding true cause. easy huh?
any cheap voltmeter made works .

the ECT is for the engine. EFI system. TBI?
but the Fsm states.
All models equipped with electric cooling fans use this sensor to control the cooling (radiator) fan operation.

i dont have the wiring set for this car.
try alldata.com and use that for fan wiring ,etc.

In cold temp, heater motor do not run

you mean low heat. at all ducts with full fan speed and blows hard,
here is the correct order.
1: engine at 180F or more holding, a absolute must.
2: fan runs at full speed on HIGH, (sounds like it)
3: fan actual blows (felt) at full speed, to any vent, try all vents.
4: now heat, will happen, if not, the dampers are closed or wrong.
damper can be complex on newer cars,they have motor controlled damper servos';

is this just blower fan dead? problem. on high, if yes say so.

I own a 2005 jeep liberty. the ac, heater fan only works on selector switch setting # 4. nay sugesstions on why fan does not work on settings 1, 2 or 3.

The lower speeds are accomplished by running the power supply through various resistors that drop the voltage which makes the blower turn at different speeds. The lowest setting uses all the resistors to drop the voltage as much as possible to turn the blower as slow as possible. High speed uses no resistors so the blower gets full power and turns as fast as possible.

Since speed 1 and speed 2 use the speed 3 resistor to drop there voltage and speed three is not working as well my guess is the speed three resistor is burnt out in the device referred to as the blower motor resistor or blower motor speed control module. This is located near the blower motor and is held in place with 2 screws. There will be several wires and possibly two connectors plugged into it.

These are really common failures in many vehicles. The parts are usually available at your local auto parts store and they are typically not that expensive.

Hope that helped.

Fan on the ac stopped working. Were is the resistor located.

I can't tell you where is the resistor but usually at maximum speed the switch bypass the resistor pack since there is no need of resistor at full speed, so if the fan stop completely, there is a good chance the fan is blown if it is not working at full speed.

Take a voltmeter and test for voltage at the fan connector with the speed fan switch on, you will be able to test all speed and if you do have voltages the fan is just dead.

2000 sebring convertible - heater fan only blows on full blast,

you need to replace the resister block for the fan speeds... it is located in/on the duct work near the fan. you will see a connector and two or three screws holding it in.

Blower motor stop working on 2000 Pontiac GP

Two possibilities I can think of. #1. The blower motor itself is dead, or #2. The blower motor resistor is fried. Blower motor resistor, however, is more known for taking out certain fan speeds, such as the lower fan speeds.

Fans wont come on

Does the temperature gauge on your dash work okay?

The coolant temperature sensor provides a signal to the PCM to tell it when to turn the fans on and if its a three wire coolant sensor it also feeds the signal to the gauge on your dash and if the gauge on your dash is not working, it could be a clear sign that the sensor is dead.

However, to start with the simple things, first check the fuses that power the fans, it will be a large fuse probably in the under the hood fuse box and maybe in the 30A range. Check the fan relays as well.
