Question about 1990 BMW 7 Series

1 Answer

Have a 1990 bmw 735i inline 6 and the poles got reversed when someone was jumping my car and now the electrical is acting strangely as well as the battery seems to no be holding a charge. wondering if the crossed poles has fried or damaged some of the fusible links and/or fuses and/or the alternator and/or battery. did i leave out anything which could have been affected and if it is as simple as fusible links, fuses, alternator, battery...where should i be looking for the links and are there additional fuses other than the main fuse box location? is there an online diagram for this year? thank you

The ECU would be another place to look. This is really sad and I can see you could spend a lot of money chasing a solution. My suggestion is, spend the money once, go to an Auto Electrician and get them to provide the answer which should be pretty quick.

I HAVE A BMW 735I 1999 EMISSION LIGHT COME ON SO PLUG IN SMART BOX AND CODES 026 AND 027 CAME UP CAN SOMEONE HELP?

Are you sure that these are the only codes you received and not a five-digit alpha-numeric series beginning with PXXXX, where P is the prefix and the XXXX is a four-digit number? I was checking the codes for the BMW 735i that you own and the only numbers I found were trouble codes with the PXXXX delineation.

I need a fuse box diagram for a 1990 BMW 735i

This should be on the cover of the fuse box in the car. However if it's not Google it and many diagrams will come up!

Remove your trunk mat and spare tyre. You can access fuel pump through plate in the trunk. Don't need to drop tank. Check fuses and relays first.

1990 BMW 735i: oil in the coolant reservoir

If your car is an automatic there would be lines from the transmission to the rad to cool the transmision fluid. Over time the lines inside the rad have been known to corrode and start leaking. This would put oil in your coolant. You would be looking for small steel lines going in and out that would trace back to the transmission. Hope this helps.

BMW E38 735i no reverse gear..????

Before you make any other moves, I would try having the transmission flushed and refilled and filters changed and if that doesn't work, you may have burned out the modulator so you may have to shop around for another transmission or have that one rebuilt, whichever would be feasibly financial for you.
