My 2002 ford taurus has no heat. When I turn the knob to heat the air conditioner comes on i can hear the compressor. Could it be something behind the knob? My air conditioner works fine. I just don't know what the problem is. If someone out there knows, please help me. I keep hearing the air conditioner compresser keep kicking in. I am a 60 year old women with MS and the cold really bothers my disease so I definately want to get this fixed. I hope it's not an expensive problem. Thank you anyone if you can help me.

I have a 2002 taursus I have replaced the thermostat but still do not have HOT heat it is lukewarm. We disconnected the plug to the air conditioner because we noticed the line was cold as if was engaged....

Make sure the heater hoses are HOT. If they are not real hot then the heater core can be clogged. At that point you can remove both hoses where they go into the firewall and blow compressed air through them or a high pressure water hose until it flows freely. It can also be whats called the blend door actuator. This is an electric motor under the dash that closes a door depending on weather you want heat or a/c. We have seen many times when something has fallen down in the defrost vents and is stuck in the blend door keeping it open partially which would cause a poor heat condition (pens,pencils,etc...) Lastly, if this is a manual a/c system meaning it has a knob for hot to cold-pull the knob off and using needle nose pliars turn the shaft sticking out of the head unit in the direction that would be heat. These knobs are known to round off and lead you to think it is turned all the way, but it's not due to the bad knob. I am confident that one of these is you problem because there just isn't too many components to the heater system and this is what we see on a daily basis. Hope it helps!

Temperature control panel is do i get face panel off to fix.1998 ford taurus. air conditioner works but does not come out.

You will need a Ford radio removal tool to fit into the 4 holes in the panel. It will pull out if they are properly engaged. Then, each control knob will pull off revealing nuts that hold each control assembly to the panel. Sounds like you have a broken cable or a vacuum line off somewhere. Hope this helps.
