Giving the 2002 Ford Explorer gas and it is losing power.

Have you changed the fuel filter? Fuel pump might be going out but would require you to have it tested. Do you have a check engine light on? This is some of the questions I would have in my head. If it's been a while, go ahead and change the fuel filter. If this doesn't help, most auto parts stores have a fuel pump tester for rent. Just make sure to ask them what normal fuel pressure is for your explorer.

My 1995 ford explorer looses power after 40 minutes of driving. I turn off wait for 10 to 15 minutes then resumes again.

Bummer deal! Sounds like the fuel filter is clogged. My motorcycle did the same thing and a new filter and a special kind of additive treatment restored its like new power - though 15 years old. The product from Mega Power is listed below and can be ordered on line. Its made for cars - and a motorcycle works exactly like any car does. Rarely, a fuel pump going dead will overheat and stop. Then restart. You can change the filter. A mechanic can check out the gas pump - Hope this helps. DIY fuel injector cleaners fast acting Ends several tune up problems

2000 VW beattle I was driving and the engine just shut off. What could be wrong?

Can be fuel pump, out of gas, timing belt, coil, ignition, pretty much anything except a flat tire. Did it over heat? Did it make any noise? Seem like it ran out of gas? Loose all power(electrical) Easiest place to start without knowing any answers is fuel. When you turn key to on position(not start), you should hear fuel pump run for a second or so. If you do, that's probably not the cause, but you can try to start it by removing air filter and spraying carburetor cleaner into tube going towards the engine...while someone is cranking engine. If it starts, change your fuel pump. If not, let me know and we can look at spark issues. Is car gas or diesel?

I have a 94 explorer every time i press the gas it will just loose all of its power and start to backfire if i shut it off and start it bak up it will drive fine for a minit and do it again

Hi, sounds like not enough fuel pressure, I'd check the fuel filter for blockages, if not blocked I'd check for fuel pressure while it's running. You can do a simple check on this at the rubber hoses that connect the fuel ststem on the motor to the body of the car. If you squeeze the hose and get somebody to turn the ignition to on so the red lights come on, but not turn over, the hose should get fuel pressure for a few seconds, making it firmer. If you start the car, and (make sure you don't put your hand in something or burn yourself) squeeze the hose until the engine stops from the fault & if the fuel pressure drops just before the engine stops, it will probably be fuel pump or filter. hope this helps :)

'94 4.0L Ford Explorer losing power

Shouldn't cost much for 10 minutes work to test fuel pressure & confirm pump condition, but do it when vehicle 's been running for a while, long enough for pump to get heated up.
