Low beams dont work, only high beams do. 02 tacoma

Running lights worked fine all day until tonight when i got in my truck, niether the running lights nor the low beams turn on. I switched to the high beams and they're the only ones that work. Emergency lights, tail lights work fine still and ive checked the fuses and no problems there. Lights are less than a year old, and low beam/high beam lights use hte same bulb so I dont believe its a problem with the bulbs or connection. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

If there is power there, then it has to be the bulbs. The trouble that most people have is, they don't see how both bulbs could burn out at once... and they're right. They don't. But you see vehicles with one headlight all the time. They don't know it unless you tell them or they happen to see it themselves. Then the second light burns out, and they think it's a major catastrophe, when in fact, it's just bulbs. The high beam still works because the bulb is double filament. The only other thing it can be is the dimmer switch, and since you switched it to high, it appears to be working. However, if it's not bulbs, it still could be the switch.

Why do my all my lights work on my 2001 GMC jimmy except my low beams.

Replace the turn signal switch. All the exterior lights run threw it except the high brake light. There is a small plastic clip/switch in it that controls high and low setting. Because of heat it starts to melt and quits working.

Ny headlights dont work have to hold lever for high beams lights to work, dont know where the headlight relay is on car.

If low beams are working then the relay is fine. Sounds like the dimmer switch is bad.

Only hi beams work ...no low beams . Lamps and fuses are good. Replaced relay, no change. Keep reading about ground wire from lights can not find it

The wiring schematic changes drasticly depending on whether your vehicle is equipped with daytime running lamps or not. However, both systems have one thing in common...the low beams and the high beams get their grounds from the same place. If the high beams are working correctly, the ground is not your problem. The most common causes of low beams not working and high beams working are the multifunction switch (or as Toyota calls it: "Combination Switch") and if your vehicle has daytime running lamps, the Daytime Running Lamp Module could be the problem.

2002 honda civic Day time running warning on change bulbs check

High beams dont go on at all? Does the DRL light dissapear when u turn on the headlights? Now, because your high beams dont work, it more likely means that you need to replace your bulbs. Because if it would be a problem in the car itself, only the DRL system would fail. Im 80% sure that changing your bulbs will solve the problem.

My truck is actually a '95 C1500 but I understand that they were the same model from 88-98. I have 2 problems - both electrical. On a recent trip, I lost both low beam headlights at the same time. ...

There could be a fuse for each low beam light either under the hood or under the dash. If not, then prob both low beams are bad.

If you have daytime run lights, the following may be of help.

There is a daytime running light module that controls both low beams and the daytime running lights. The low beam bulbs may be OK. The high beams will work fine as they are not controlled through the module.

It may be possible to disable the daytime run lights by cutting the yellow wire going into the module and then connecting it to ground. Tape off the other end.

This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya

hiya, it sounds like a problem with either the stalk for the lights high beam or the relay isnt latching properly. id start with the relay as some relays on cars are interchangable. swap one over for another that is the same then try it. if this doesnt work try a new stalk. hope i helped :0)
