Crank no start or no crank? No crank check your battery and starter.

96 Monte carlo z34 won't crank over unless I jump

Sounds like a problem with the key switch, probably the security system. You may only have power to the fuel pump when the engine is cranking.
Is the security light on or flashing ?

1997 Monte Carlo battery wont stay charged after a jump. The car will warm up then when turned off won't turn over it makes a clicking noise when ignition is terned.

Could be a bad battery, and or alternator, if the alternator does not charge the battery when the vehicle is running your battery will drain causing no start.

99 chevy monte carlo was running fine, then one day it didnt start, no lights or power from battery. What could this be?

Possible Problems 1. Battery dead (if the horn does not blow then that's what it is) 2. Alternator is malfunctioning (the thingy that makes the sound when you turn the key in the ignition)

I have a 96 SS Monte Carlo and I shut it off and know it won't even turn over the dash lights come on but the car won't start

Has to be a bad battery cable connection...if cranks over starter is probably OK...but the alternator may not be charging the battery...If jump starting works...I would have the battery tested. Hope this helps.

No start, backfiring while cranking, 3.1M V6 in a '96 Monte Carlo

I'd have to make sure battery has a full charge and battery connections good. Sometimes if vehicle is hard to start, people run the battery down? We can't do any testing if battery is down. Use a digital mutimeter across battery posts, everything off. The generic spec for a full charge is around 12.6 volts. Leave the meter leads touching the battery posts, have helper turn key to crank, the reading shouldn't drop below 9 volts, That reading may vary a little from one vehicle to another. Some say 9.6 volts, some say ten, you get the picture.
How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes? Does it backfire out the exhaust or intake? I'd want to check fuel trims, see if anything shows up? As far as hydrostatic lock, pull the spark plugs, see if any fluid comes out?

96 chevy monte carlo 3.1 wont start

check to see if the wire is broken for the passlock/passkey system in the ignition lock cylinder, its common for the copper wire to seperate inside the insulation, when you tilt the column it could have been pushing the wires together enough to touch inside the insulation
