Question about Jeep Liberty

Had an electrical problem (PO845) with my 2002 Jeep

Had an electrical problem with my 2002 Jeep Liberty. Transmission "kicked" and stuck in 3rd gear, had it towed to dealership and they cleared the code that came up (PO845) and they drove it without issue appearing again and I've driven it for the last few weeks(short distances)with no problems. I'm getting ready to move from WV to NC and hope that the issue will not happen while I'm on the road for 5 to 6 hours for the trip. Any ideas - should I check into it further or just make the trip? Thanks for your help

They told me they "did a few things" then cleared the code and drove it for about 30 miles and everthing seemed to be okay. Then said bring it back if it does it again.

Did the dealer do anything else other than clear the code? Did they do any other diagnostic checks to determine the cause of the truck getting stuck in 3rd gear? Most likely the cause was a stuck or defective shift solenoid. If the problem has not recurred since it was looked at, and you said you have been driving it for a few weeks now, then I would think you'd be ok driving to NC.

They "did a few things" huh? Wow. That probably means they did absolutely nothing other than clear the code and check the fluid. Before you leave for your trip, warm up the transmission, and check the fluid. It should be red in color and at the full mark when its fully warmed up.

For good measure I would change the tranny fluid and engine oil and check the coolant, powersteering, and break fluid and tire pressure. That would be a start for things to do before the trip

Hi, just had rear end collision ( I did the rear ending), in my 03 Jeep Liberty 3.7l. Passenger side bumper vs hitch. Now trans is stuck in 2nd or 3rd gear. It drives but hits 4K RPMs at 50mph.

I have seen this when the engine shifts in the engine bay. When an engine gets out of place the transmission linkage or cable is pulled short changing how the transmission will work.

How do I fix a code P0733 on a 2002 Jeep Liberty?

IF YOUR VEHICLE IS A 3,7 4X4 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION,THEN THE CODE YOU HAVE IS 3RD GEAR RATION INCORRECT. THIS COULD BE BECAUSE YOU HAVE LOW TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL- IF YOU HAVE ONLY THIS CODE.- WHAT YOU DO: PUT THE CAR ON A CORRECT GROUND LEVEL,START THE ENGINE PUT THE GEAR BOX TO NEUTRAL POSITION ( NO PARK ) AND CHECK THE LEVEL OF THE TRANSMISSION FLUID.SHOULD BE ON THE CORRECT LEVEL.IF IT NEEDS FLUID TOP IT UP WITH THE RECOMMENDED FLUID BY THE MANUFACTURER.CLEAR THE CODE EITHER BY USING A SCANNER OR DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. ( BE SURE IF YOU HAVE A RADIO WITH CODE ) THEN DRIVE IT TO SEE WHETHER THE CODE CONE OR NOT. GOOD LUCK.

Recently the transmission is Stuck in 3rd

P1768 - Performance / Normal / Winter Mode Input Malfunction

P1733 - 3-4 Shift Malfunction
I would suggest you have the shift solenoid electrically tested to determine if they are at fault here or that you have a wiring issue or a failed Transmission control module. You will need the help of a transmission shop to diagnose this properly, do not just replace parts until you are sure they are the problem.

2002 jeep liberty auto trans check engine lte on code p0700 and will not shift of=ver 2nd gear when goes into 3rd gear it feels like in neutral

p0700 is pretty much the generic code for saying the computer that controls your transmission has a problem, it may not be the actual computer its self, but one of its sensores, or a bad wire, i would recomend taking it to a reputable transmission shop

2006 Liberty transmission problem

Welcome to the current world of computer controls. Unless it never did this for a couple years your stuck like I am ,with a 6 year old lincoln LS. 46 years experience and I can't help on this one. You may want the dealer to check for a computer update. Have them run the VIN# and check for you

02 jeep liberty won't shift into 3rd or 4th gear.

Ratio codes generally indicate a pressure loss & slipping which the computer reads as a gear ratio problem. Likely you need a rebuild.

Automatic transmission is stuck in 2nd gear (limp mode)

most newer vehicles  have transmission control modules, that go to a default of 2nd or 3rd gear when they go bad!  I had a 91 plymouth stuck in 3rd gear because of this module! could be your problem!    when mine went out, it smelled like something electrical burned inside the the passenger cabin! I would check all the electrical connections on the transmission first    good luck

Jeep liberty transmission problem

IT COULD BE SOLENOID PACK OR THE GOVERNOR AND TRANSDUCER OR LOW FLUID OR THE MOST COMMON REPAIR SPEEDS SENSORS INPUT/OUTPUT. ALL OF THESE CONTROLS THE SHIFTING. START WITH THE SENSORS FIRST, VERY COMMON.
