Check the connections. put the headlights on and then check and wiggle connections, if the lights flicker, you have a bad connection.

Check the other ends of the main leed's + and - one is connected to the car body and engine + is connected to the starter. Check these for tightness and corosion. If they are O.K. then its a lazy (worn) starter motor

I turn the key and only get a constat clicking sound

sounds like you may have a dead battery. if your battery is dead you may want to have it tested to see if you have a bad battery. parasitic draw can drain a battery usually in a couple weeks if it isn't driven.

Toyota four runner 95 v6 it doesnt start makes clicking sound in the engine?

if your battery is fully charged, then your starter celliniod contact is probably worn out.

you can remove your starter and have it tested at an alternator/starter specialty repair/rebuild shop. if the cellinoid or cellinoid contact tests bad, then you can replace either of those for just a few dollars.

if the entire starter tests bad, then you can usually have it rebuilt for around $100.

When trying to start my 1991 Plymouth Sundance America I hear only a clicking sound. I replaced the battery but it did not work. Can it be the alternator?

sounds like you have a bad starter.not your alternator.if the battery is good the car should start even if the alternator is bad.you can even drive the car until the battery runs low.the alternator job is to keep the battery charged.soulds like the solinoid is clicking.but no responce from the starter.have starter checked.

2002 ford mustang wouldnt start . Told battery bad. replaced battery and still just makes clicking sound.

This sounds like your starter. 1. I would take my old battery to the auto parts store and let them test. If the they say it's bad then you still needed to replace your battery. However, it's good, take the new one back and get your money back. 2. I would also check my battery wires, make sure they have a good connection. If they are rusty that might cause issues too. If this is a battery issue your lights in the car should have problems too. If all seem very strong just the clicking sound I would look at the starter, this way you have eliminated the idea of your battery.

I would clean the battery termanels and check the battery cells to see if you may have a bad battery. If not the battery it could be a starter issue or altenator problem. You should have a fuse in your fuse box labeled battery under the hood and you can use a contanuate tester to see if the fuse is bad or just replace.
