The very first thing i would do is pop the hood and just check and see how much transmission flood is in it. It's possible if it has been sitting a long time their might of been a small leak you didn't know about. the 2nd thing id do if possible is climb under the car if weeds have been growing up under it and pull out any weeds stuck up inside the bottom side of the car, and do the same thing in the motor area.
Im assuming that your car is still drivable in 1st gear. If so take it to a nearest autozone they can hook it up to the computer and give ya some codes to trouble shoot your issue more..
however the problem probably is a problem with the
throttle valve or linkage. The throttle valve is a valve in the valve body that is connected to the engine throttle linkage by a rod to a lever on the
top of the transmission. Many times the valve becomes stuck in the
valve body, its possible its gotten stuck do to rust, or other bodies of material. If you are lucky, the linkage
may be disconnected and holding the lever down. The part is proably aroudn 35.00 dollars also. If ts the transmission itself then you'll need a new one or have it rebuilt.

I have a 93 Ford Tempo with a 4cyl. 2.3 L engine. It jerks when driving and resists reverse. Just put two qts of transmission fluid in it. Could it be the brakes?

More likely a failed transmission, if it was that low and has been run extensively. When you pulled the dipstick for the transaxle, was the fluid a dirty brown? That could be overheated fluid, a pretty sure sign of imminent failure.
To check the brakes, raise each wheel and check. Spin the rear wheels by hand, have someone step on the brakes and release. Does wheel spin again freely? Check the front wheels the same way: turn wheel by hand, should stop when brake is pressed, and turn again when brake is released.
Auto transmission rebuilds are quite expensive, and used ones are iffy at best. Try to find a used one with low mileage if you have to go that route.

I have a 1994 ford tempo that has issues shifting. It starts fine goes into all gears . it shifts from first to second gear at 35mph then shifts again at 45mph. What could be the issue? I changed the...

You may need a transmission shop for this.
Some older cars used a vac modulator to control shift time, but I don't see one listed for a 94 Tempo. Whatever Ford uses to control shift time may be faulty, or the kickdown cable to the throttle body may be sticking. It could have a solenoid inside that does what the modulator once did.

1994 Cadillac Deville - won't shift into reverse after sitting overnight or for a couple of hours. Will shift into 1st and then will shift into reverse. What is causing this?

Check the transmission fluid level, reverse needs twice the pressure to activate that drive does. If low refill and try again. If fluid good, I`d say the tranny 3rd reverse clutch is worn out. Recheck the condition of the fluid on the dipstick, if it appears burnt or very dirty I`d still suspect internal tranny clutch issues. It also has a low reverse clutch, but goes into 1st gear as you said.

Subaru impreza automatic transmission won t shift

Try replacing the transmission filter and the trannie fluid. Mine would only go in reverse, and now it drives pretty well. This year has a screw on filter. Hope this helps
