It just started to fade out and I'd push the selext button and it would come back on but now it is off.....

Sounds like you had a resistor come unsoldered on the PC Board in the overhead display.
Here is a How to on repairing the overhead display, only takes a few minuets and a soldering iron ( and maybe 1 or 2 51 ohm resistors if they fell out ).
The SuperDuty has the same issue, only the resistors are 68 ohm instead of 51 ohm.
