It depends where you take the car for repairs.but this might be an easy fix..go to autozone or walmart(cheaper) and buy a test light and check your fuses one by one the light will turn on when you find the one still pulling current..check fuse panel to see what that fuse goes to and rewire or replace....hope this helps?

Have a 2000 dodge durango w/new batter, blower all lights work but battery wont take charge??????????????????????

If you have changed the battery, have it load tested to make sure it is not defective.
A tech can also check the voltage output and regulator. I am assuming you have already had these two check done as well as ECM error codes. The PCM, powertrain control module would be my next component to have checked. A dealership should have the software to check this. I believe that the OEM part runs around $8 to $900.00 dollars. You may be able to get an aftermarket replacement for around $200, but once installed electrical components are not returnable. Do not get stranded somewhere, have a dealship check this problem out!

it sounds like you have blown fuse to the Alternator.. I don't know what car you are talking about but they charging systems vary.. But if alternator isn't getting all the power it needs it won't charge. this should be checked.

good luck

My 2002 taurus won't downshift unless i let off the gas

This transmissions shift is controlled by a computer called the PCM, it activates electric solenoids inside the transmission that do the shifting by opening and closing hydraulic pressure ports, if a fault exists in the electronic controls inside the transmission the computer will store a specific code for this fault. So what must be done 1st is to have the computer checked for fault codes, this is called an "OBD2" fault code test. The best thing to do is have an AAmco transmission shop run the test and road test the car, the preliminary testing is free, they can then give you a rough estimate of the repair cost.

The PCM is the engine computer , ASD - is auto shut down relay . The charging system is controlled by the PCM .If fuse blows there is a dead short to ground in that circuit . Do you know anything about automotive electrical trouble shooting ? If not ,your best bet mite be to take it to a qualified repair shop. It takes special tools and knowledge to fix these problems .

Upon startup engine idles rough then speeds up and returns to normal idle .After a couple of minutes the volt light comes on then no power then a complete shut down.Starts back up for a while then shuts...

OK, the volt light means that the alternator is not charging the battery. It could mean the battery is shorted out, or the battery is bad or low on charge due to an alternator not charging.

Replace the Alternator and battery as indicated by standard voltage output tests under load.

The computer in the car will not operate the engine properly on low voltage.

Fixing the charging system, may resolve the rough idle (meaning that it may be trying to relearn after data was erased by low voltage of the battery), and the speed up.

Try the charging system first, and once that is repaired, reevaluate the engine driveability and speed and idle smoothness, after it relearns.

Good luck on this repair.
