Is the water pump leaking? If it is,then there are many coolant stop leaks on the market, but I don`t advise using them, unless the car is not worth investing in.The products claim not ot harm or stop up the cooling systems, but they are not good for the cooling systems that are out this day and time.If the car is in good shape,my advise ,is to invest in the water pump replacement.

You may want to try finding a tube of graphite usually sold at wal-mart in the automotive section that will clearly state it is for coolant systems; the graphite will build up around the hole and usually fix the leak; if not, consult your local mechanic to find the root of the problem... most likely a leaking coolant line, hose or radiator

The only option you can try is Bars Coolant system stop leak, available at any auto parts store and Walmart. If that does not slow or stop the leak then you will have to replace what is leaking.

How do i change the water pump on a 2000 dodge, grand caravan

Removing and changing the water pump on a 2000 Grand Caravan should only be done if your van has a 3.3 liter or 3.8 liter V6 engine. On any other engine types, including four-cylinder engines, you must remove the timing belt from the engine to access the water pump, which is a dangerous task that can mess up the engine if attempted by an amateur.
The procedure is as follows:------------- The water pump is responsible for sending the engine coolant to the engine.First of all remove the serpentine belt then remove the plastic cove on the passenger side behind the wheel. You will have to remove the pulley. Once the pulley is removed unbolt the water pump and remove it. Clean the surfaces and install new pump. Draining the coolant and replacing it is advisable.
Drain the engine coolant, twisting and removing the drain plug at the bottom of the radiator
-------------------Thats it.

Replacing water in radiator on a daily basis, have no heat. water only seems to go down 1/2 a liter or so, however, whether it's (1) day or (two) days. haven't seen water on ground. truck has never...

Based on what you wrote, I believe you are correct on the heater core.Generally you won't see coolant on the ground but you will find that the passenger floor is wet. The part about not having heat is strange though as even if it's leaking it should still provide heat 'till the coolant level drops to a point where it won't flow through the core BUT, at that point usually the engine will overheat due to a lack of proper circulation and no coolant in the cylinder heads. Therefore, I'd replace the core but also carefully inspect everything under there for any signs of another problem (a stuck air diverter door or a malfunctioning vacuum servo on a door). After doing any work on a cooling system, It's always a good idea to replace the thermostat. They aren't expensive and often become unreliable after a problem has been encountered.

I have a 1995 grand prix I had the water pump replaced but its still leaking coolant and runs hot how do I fix it?

you nave to determine where the problem is. This could be caused by many things here is a list that I can give you but can't be sure as I don't know what was all done when the pump was replaced. Some mechanics don't do the same things when they repair or replace water pumps. Here is possible causes, Plugged catalytic converter Could cause overheating. This could of caused the pump to fail as it would of caused the engine block to get hot and boil the coolant out from the block. As well when the mechanic changed the pump he should of done the following if he inspected the following.

1. Rod out radiator and use scaler for engine before putting in antifreeze.

2. Replace water hoses that may have separated and collapsed

3. Replace Radiator cap Because if the cap has a weak spring allowing coolant to flow into overflow tank and thus, after several cooling and heating periods over a few days causes you to lose coolant.

4. A loose water pump belt. Or a spring tensioner worn out.

5. If it has a automatic Transmission could have plugged oil cooler which could cause the engine to overheat.

6. Oil cooler plugged can cause this as well.

7. A/C Malfunctioning causing the condenser or evaporator to heat up water.

8. Plugged condenser with foreign material it it not allowing correct air flow.

9. on some models fan clutch worn out.

And the list could go on this is not a full list of what could cause it but gives you an ideal how far ranging the problem could be. Hope this helps thanks for using fix-ya.

1998 chevy monte carlo leaking coolant

It's a 99% chance of water pump leak or the housing at the timing chain that the water pump sits on.
Water pumps can and do leak one minute then seal themselves.
A cheap fix most use is go to a 7 lb pressure cap on the rad.

How often should be changed the distribution belt of a VW Lupo 1,2ltr. TDI type 3L? How can I see if the distribution belt is changed?

Hey , the timing belt should be changed every 90.000 km. It is mandatory to change at least once all the parts that are involved in the process. You should change the water pump and the spanndampfer (i don't know the english term) and the tensioner and the little guiding role. While doing this you must refill the engine coolant that will be lost by removing and refeting the water pump. I used HEPU , that should be diluated with distilated water (1 to 1). I used 1.5 Hepu engine coolant and 1.2 liters of distilated water , even though the manufacturer says that there are 5 liters used in the engine cooland , by removing the pump you will only lose about 2.5 liters of engine coolant. You can check the timing belt by removing it and bending it , if you see crack on it you should change it. I bought a complete kit from ebay with 221.5 euros. Good luck . mihai_farcas is my id , on yahoo , if you have any other questions , please ask.
