EAC FAIL ON A 2004 PLATE FORD FUSION 2

Anyone know if this is a serious fault as it's happened once now gone away? Is it expensive to fix? Do I need a diagnostic?
Loss of acceleration coupled by a "EAC FAIL" warning light on the dash.
Many thanks

    Hi emissionwiz,

Whilst driving to work today, my car suffered a loss of power whilst trying to accelerate. There was then a flashing warning which said "EAC fail" Apparently this means Electronic acceleration fail.

    Hi heeman,

I thought that might be the case, however I was hoping this would be a straight swap of the sensor, thus not requiring £75 diagnostic fee on top of a repair cost.

    Thanks for the response!

The best thing to do at this point is to have the diagnostic trouble codes read that may be stored in the memory of the on board computer, it is called the OBD 2 (on board diagnostics generation two) electronic engine control system.

Yes you need a diagnostic tool to read the error code and from there carry out any repairs.

Sometimes any repairs that you do will need a diagnostic tool to clear the error as by only changing the parts it does not update the engine management that there has been any new parts fitted..Yours uses OBD 2 software as it is a post 97 model...

EAC FAIL FORD FUSION 03

I have an EAC failure on my wifes 53 reg Fusion 1.4 and it's been off the road for 2 months. An independent check showed fault code P2135, which relates to the throttle body but fitting a body from a healthy Fiesta with the same engine didn't solve the problem. I was advised to check wiring to the body but all seemed OK. Took car to Ford who stated that the car needs an updated body and wiring and the parts are on back order with first delivery not due until Jan 2010! Why the car won't work with replacement original parts is a mystery. I'm very disappointed with Ford. Sorry this doesn't solve the problem but hope it clarifies the situation. Have logged this on other websites and with BBC Watchdog!

EAC FAIL keeps coming on

EAC stands for electronic accelerator control. The problem is related to the accelerator pedal and fly-by-wire system.

Cures varied from a simple ECU update to a ECU replacement, depending what combination of fault codes you have stored.

I would take it back to the dealer and ask them to download the codes your car will have stored to see what the specific problem is.

Ford Fusion 04 Engine Management Light

I had a 2002 model 1.4 Fiesta, same problem Engine management light or ECA, electronic accelaration Control (EAC), it needs a ford dealer to do a computer diagnostic, most likely that it will need replaced.

Mt friend who is a mechanic for ford said that it was a common factory fault and is very common in 1.4 zetec /duratec petrol models.

I now have a 2007 Fusion and was quick to see if this problem had been sorted on this model, and it has!!

Hope this helps!!
