Serpatine belt comes off buick park ave. when driving through standing water

My bet is that one of the pulleys is misaligned. Could possibly be on the belt tensioner. Have you tried a new belt tensioner?

Also make sure the other pulleys do not have ANY play in them. Take the belt off and by hand check to see if you can wobble any of the pulleys.

If the shaft of any pulley is not perfectly aligned with the other pulleys, that pulley could cause the belt to slip off. Has the alternator, power steering pump, AC compressor been worked on or removed just prior to this happening? One of those might not have been reinstalled perfectly. A washer that is missing or in the wrong place can cause a belt to drift.

My 94 jettas power sterring seems to fail in the rain from slipping !is there a chance the could be a cover missing and can be replaced?

Yes. there are suppose to be lower covers to keep water from spraying up on the belts when it is raining.I would check to make sure all covers are present and also make sure tension on belt is good as well.If all covers are present I would check into replacing p/s belt and having it adjusted properly.Hope this helps

Noise in the drive belt area and how to replace the belt

Depending on the engine size and year, some belt routing is on the belt cover. Check the alignment of the crank pulley or harmonic balancer, a common problem . Most jeeps tension the belt by the power sterring pump or a tensioner pulley next to power sterring .

How can tighten the belt on my chevy silverado

If it's a serpentine style belt then you have an auto tensioner that you buy and install if it's worn out. On v-type belts, you have altenator tension, power sterring tension and usually a/c tension to set. What year and style belt do you have?

I have a problem with the drivebelt, it has been replace twice, new power sterring motor replaced and alternator replaced, the belt keeps breaking.

You need now to look at the idler, (guide) or tensioner pulleys. Not sure which series you have or the year. The 5 series back to '89 has 2 tensioners and 1 guide or idler. The 7 series back to '86 uses the same. The 8 series back to '91 also has 2 tensioners and the 1 guide pulley Check these other pulleys for free spinning bearings.

Sounds like your serpentine belt driving the alternator and power steering units is too loose. If you haven't had it replaced, it may be time.

I need a diagram set up for a power sterring

if its a serpentine belt, diagram is on radiator support next to latch.if single belt, loosen pivot bolt and adjuster bolt on pump untill belt will slip might have a tensioner (a pulley that looks like it does nothing)find a socket that fits center bolt and pull back to release tension, after getting belt aligned and on all pulleys let go of tensioner and spring load will take care off the rest. The belt keeps coming off the fan

the only reason for the belt coming off the pulley is the something in the belt path is off aligment.
put the belt back on and chek the path where the belt pass. water pump, alternator, AC compressor, Power steeling unit, etc....... or even the pulley tensioner itself.
chance are there is a belt in the wrong pully slot.
