Question about 1999 Ford Taurus

1999 Taurus - now windows won't open!!

1999 Taurus - Door ajar light came on with no door ajar, and at same time dome light would not go off. Tried to extract bulb, but must have shorted something. Now windows will not open. Want to extract driver window relay to check it (what else could it be?), but how do you get it out? Jiggle and pull hasn't worked so far. Trying not to break anything or worsen situation.

Door ajar has gone off. But main problem remains electric windows not responding to door mounted open/close control. Page 126 of owner's manual indicates that the power windows are connected to fuse/relay, 5 amp, location 33. The chart identifies this as the "Driver's Window Relay", which is the big relay in upper left of the fuse box. My question - Is this probably the problem, and how do you get it out? Tugging and wiggling don't work.

You have probably blown a fuse. The interior light switch is probably faulty causing the light to stay on and the warning to come up.

Ford Taurus SE 1999. Dome Light - Door Ajar indicator problem. This is an intermittent problem, hence far more difficult to isolate. OK. I will be thorough in describing this "set of problems" as I do...

i must say that i feel your pain with this,, my door ajar light does the same thing but my dome light doesn't come on when the doors are open, i have to flick the switch on the dome light to make it come on. In my opion and i stress my opion it saounds like a issue with the body controller, im not sure what ford calls it but it controls all the body functions, i dont think the low coolant light is connected to the body contoller but i dont know this for sure, i think that light is controlled bny the engine ecm. some times a dealer can connect to the body controller and see if there are any fault codes for circuits that it controls and or monitors, also they can reflash or update the configeration and or calibration level cause ford release's fixes for issues all the time, same theory works for any control module on a vehicle. i dont think any of the auto parts stores have the right program to connect to bofy controlers but i could be wrong, worth looking into. i only put up with mine cause i use it as a beater, if you are worried about your dome light staying on and drianing your battery then you could pull out or disconnect the dome lights for the time being, its not a fix but just a band-aid.

How do I get the door ajar/dome light to go out

I hear removing the relay for the door ajar will remendy this problem. So many people have replaced this relay and get no better results from it. My Ranger has the same problem ever since it was 9 months old. I tried two new relays and the problem comes back within months. That is why I just totally done away with mine. I rigged up a hot wire to my dome light so I can use it while I am in the truck. I know where the seat is in the dark so I don't need a dome light when I open my door.

The dome light does not turn off and the door ajar

the problem is door ajar switch located on one of the door latches just inside the door. what usually works is spraying wd40 or an electronic lubricant prayed liberally into the door latch and then opening and closing the door several times. the stuck switch is usually on the door that is the least used door like the passenger side rear. let us know how you make out.

Dome light stays on. Always says theres a door ajar.

The sensors are in the latch assembly. Try opening the doors and spraying the latches with WD-40 that will usually fix it.

Same problem: door ajar light was on, dome light

Check fuse 23, 27 and 33 inside the vehicle. Chances are you blew a fuse when the dome lamp shorted. The modules should be okay.

Sounds like the keyless entry system is on the fritz. You will probably have to get a new brain for the keyless entry system.

1997 Tarus dome light and floor lights will not go out.

This is usually caused by the switches sticking in the door latches. Try spraying some WD40 in the latches and open and close the doors a bunch of times that should take care of it.
