Question about 2006 Nissan Maxima

1 Answer

Starting problems Nissan Maxima 2006

Put key in, turned and got nothing but some clicks that came from ignition and also dash area, glove box area. Weird clicking noises! Couldn't turn key back to off to get it out of ignition! Was panicky!!! Let it set. Finally after a minute or so, I could remove key. Now afraid to try it again! Car has not been used much in last 5 months...I did drive it last week daily, but only a couple of miles a day. Never had a problem starting it before now! Auxiliary lights work (reading lights, door lights). Could it be the battery??? Why wouldn't my key turn back to the left to get it out???

Sounds like either weak battery or a weak starter not turning it over quick enough. Check thoses areas first and then go to the ignition switch and check

1995 Nissan Difficult to start in hot weather.

the reason it's starting after a few turns of the key is because when you're the ignition position, you're priming the engine to start. By priming it repeatedly, you're making it easier on the starter to catch when you finally try to turn the engine. I would first check the spark plugs and electrical wiring.

Sounds like your alternator isn't doing its job. I would have an auto parts place check the alternators' output. Good luck
