Question about 2001 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

1 Answer

My 2004 Jetta will turn over but not start once again, it has been doing this and it will start one day and the gas gauge changes from before it died and then a couple days later it wont start again, not sure what it could be, last time I tryed to have it towed to the dealership it started up once it got there, Dealership cant find the problem unless it is not running so it came back fine when they put it on the machine, this is the 3 time it has done this, What could be the problem???

The electrical fuel pump within the tank does not just burn out like a lightbulb, it will fail intermittantly at any given time. I believe this is what you are experiencing. A fuel pressure test is useless in this case.Your best venue is to have the fuel pump and relay changed before you are left on a roadside without warning. Thank you, Dana

Ey sounds like you have a bad alternator so you should test to see if the alternator is still good or bad by let the engine running then pop the hood opened and disconnected the ground cable off from the battery terminal so when you do that and if the engine dies then you have bad alternator but if the engine still running after disconnect then your alternator is still good

check fluid level by raising car,run untill operating temp, unscrew 5 mm allien key plug ,fluid should be rolling out of hole in not add.
once fluid level is good turn key on,(not running) mash gas pedal tp floor for 15 secs turn key off and on and off again.that resets trans memory
