2000 Honda Accord SE the green illumination lights behind odometer and clock go out when the head lights or running lights go on all fuses and relays are good no visible broken wires or loose grounds and...

change light bulbs, simple. Clock light is VERY easy, buy bulb at honda dealer, 3 bucks. pry it up, and out. change the old bulb, situated right hand side, turn it counterclockwise quarter of a turn, done.

As for odometer backlight, also a light bulb, easily bought at any automotive store. Unscrew the 2 screws from the top of the black bezel surrounding the instrument panel. Most difficult part is now pulling it out and towards you.. VERY DIFFICULT. I had to snake a shoestring behind it to yank it out as it is held in place by two clips on the bottom edges. Google it, that's how everyone does it. Then it's rather straight forward from there. 4 more screws, and tilt the unit towards you, and undo the 3 cables. Find the faulty light bulb, take it out, and replace. Done

Clock does not light up

There is a buln in the back of the clock. If you remove the clock, it pulls right out, you can get a new (tiny!) bulb from the dealer. If you smack the clock it will probably come back on. These are very common.

98 honda accord panel lights will not turn on

Did you check the dimmer to switch? This is for a 2000 Honda Accord but this may help you: If your instrument lights have burnt out on your 2000 Honda Accord.... You may have another problem!!! While the dealer fixes this recall, they should replace your burnt out bulbs. 2000 Honda Accord Recall ID from NHTSA: 04V256000 Auto Recall Date: 06/07/2004 Vehicle Component: INTERIOR LIGHTING Estimated Vehicles Affected: 19572 2000 Honda Accord Defect Summary: ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE DIMMER CONTROL FOR THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS COULD FAIL DUE TO HEAT BUILDUP. Defect Consequence: IF THIS OCCURS, THE INSTRUMENT LIGHTS MAY FAIL AND, AT NIGHT, THE DRIVER MAY NOT BE ABLE TO SEE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES, SUCH AS THE SPEEDOMETER. Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE A MULTIPLEX CONTROL UNIT FOR THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JUNE 16, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009. Only headlights work, 91 4dr EX

ok supaxang, could this solution be as simple as replace the 2 rear bulbs? The brake light and tail light (parking light) are the same bulb, 2 filaments, one for brakes, one for tail lights. If the the tail light filament burns out, the brake light will continue to work ok. It is quite possible that both tail lights burned out, and the brake light filaments are good and still working. Replace w/ bulb #2057. Let me know if this fixes it, if not, I'll keep working on it.
