Take the vehicle to AutoZone where they will analyze the fault free. Request a print-out of the analysis (free) and let us know the fault code and summary of the print-out. Have them reset the light.

You can reset it, too: Turn OFF vehicle and disconnect the negative battery cable for ten minutes.

Engine light indicator on

Hi Rey, If the engine check light is on, it is reporting a defect in the engine management system. It will only get worse and may eventually cause a break down leaving you stranded. Take the vehicle for a diagnostic scan at a service and repair shop and find out what the problem is. Regards John

Service engine soon light is always on

Always on,why is that?

Those thype of lights have been on all vehicles
for over 30 years as required by the govt in north
america at least,so how is it your not checking for codes
almost the same day you get a light on your dash

That is a MIL Lamp or Check Lamp indicating your car
has a possible faiure in one of it's many systems

You check for codes right away & diagnose, resolve or
repair within a week inless it isn't something that would
ruin your engine or trans etc.

The wording service soon is misleeding & nothing to
do with you getting some type of service at your convenience,
it is a serious problem untill you check for codes & at least
have some indication of the system effected

What's your problem?2004 ford expedition service engine soon light

I assume you resolved the issues by now

Check lights have been on all vehicles for 31 years,
so you shouldn't be asking about them

Does not matter what light comes on your dash

The procedure is always the same
Check for codes
Diagnose & repair code related issues first

My service engine soon light is on, do I need to worry

We have had On Board Vehicle Systems since 1983,
some 30 years, why do people still ask these questions

Real simple

You need an owners manual
You need to study OBD2 Systems-on internet

You always have a problem & always have to
check for codes & always have to diagnose &
repair the issues EVERY TIME ANY Light Comes
On Your Dash.

I would change out the ECU box. They are under $130 (or you can buy used one like I did). They are easy to change out yourself and are usually located under the floor mat/carpet on the passenger side. I tried the reset thing on my old 93 Honda several times and when I changed it out completely, my problem was solved.

The signal light (at the dashboard-meter) always ON. Even after replacing the fuel filter, the problems still the same. any idea? pls...i need help.

Signal light??? Do you mean check engine light or service engine soon light? If so you will need to have the codes pulled to determine the issue.

2003 Buick Century Sevice Engine light

A check engine light doesn’t always mean a big problem or an expensive repair is ahead. However, driving a car with the check engine light on could mean that you are doing further damage to the engine, depending on the problem. It’s always best to get the vehicle checked at your earliest convenience.

Because there are so many possible reasons for the check engine light to come on, pulling the codes for the event can be helpful when the problem is not immediately evident. Even if the check engine light is only on a short time, a code will be stored in the ECU for later retrieval.

I suggest scannin your ECU to know which fault code there.

Hope helps (remember rated this).

Engine light is on.

Your vehicle’s computer system has self-testing capability. When the computer senses that there is a problem with some of the components it stores the correspondent trouble code(s) in its memory and lights up the Check Engine or Service Engine Soon lights to tell you that there is a problem and you should have the car diagnosed and repaired. Not fluid related, but could be a small problem that's easy to fix now. Even a loose gas cap can turn the light on. Have a code scan, that's the starting point.
