I had the valve cover gasket changed on my 1996

My 1996 Rodeo Isuzu was steady leaking oil and making a loud ticking sound.
I had the valve cover gasket changed and after about a week it started leaking oil and ticking again. What can it be?

On a v6 ? Low on oil? rear cam plugs leaking? The lifters are on the end of the rocker arms and may get clogged. I have had some luck running 0w30 mobil synthetic for about a week or so with a new oil filter [Not a fram filter] and after that put 10w30 synthetic oil back in and a new filter. Check for oil leaking at other locations. If the noise is at the front of engine near water pump it may be the hydraulic timing belt tensioner.

you may not be necessarily be burning oil but leaking oil. wifes axiom has same problem and hers appears to be leaking at the valve cover. you may need to change a valve cover gasket

97 isuzu rodeo 6cyl...changed my valve cover gaskets...now another oil leak under the left valve cover (pass. side) about mid way down...what that is it?

No idea without a good look myself but i would hazard a guess that the gasket is adrift somehow when refitting .

Where is MAF sensor on 1994 isuzu rodeo Runs rough

The sensor should be right there where the intake air duct meets the air filter housing.
That oil down in the spark plug tube is most likely from a leaking valve gover gasket. Oil in there can and will cause misfires.

Oil gage goes to zero when i stop but goes up when i take off also using lots of oil but no smoke out the exhaust does this mean my oil pump is going bad 1996 isuzu rodeo

May mean yor engine is burning the oil or you have a leak.
Look in coolant recovery tank or radiator when vehicle is cold and is if coolant is milky or there is oil in it.If either of these conditions are there you may have a bad head gasket.
If none of these conditions are there then have the vehicle inspected for oil leaks.
Arears to focus on: Rear main seal, oil pan, valve cover gaskets, cam and crank shaft seals, oil pump seal and gasket.
Good luck

1993 isuzu rodeo with 175,000 miles has ticking comming from valve covers. ticking comes and goes. oil pressure is good.

this is caused by worn hydraulic valve lifters. try a good "seafoam" engine flush the next time you get ready to change your oil. follow the instructions on the can and then use 10w 40 oil and an isuzu(or honda) oil filter. you should notice a dramatic change.

My oil pressure gauge is fine when the car is started then after running for a while the gauge jumps and gets close and sometimes goes to zero could that be the pressure switch? So far it has not shut off...

sounds like possible oil starvation due to leak in pick up or supply galleries
suggest checking with proper test gauge to see if its the same
if it is the same check pressure relief valve in pump (to see if jamming open)
then check pick up in sump and "O" ring

Oil consumption, rattle, engine noise

Check under the hood and inspect the valve cover gasket. If it's bad it would explain why you don't see any leaks on the ground because it's probably burning off on the manifold. This ticking you're hearing is a lack of lubrication to the rocker arms. Apart from the valve cover gasket, you should get under the car and inspect the oil pan and oil filter for seepage. Best of luck on your problem.

Loud ticking sound all of the time

Are you sure its not an exhaust leak ..? They can sometimes sound like a ticking noise and the noise will change with temperatures of engine.. ? also if you can borrow a stethicope from someone which is used in automotive repair alot (different than what your doctor uses) this will help you pinpoint the problem .. It sounds to me with out hearing it you have a loose rocker arm possably .. If this is the case this is a easy fix and very inexpensive. just figure which side its coming from take the valve cover off and tighten it till it stops ticking and then give it 1/4 turn. Holler if you need more Jerry

Knocking when started, noise disappears in higher gears.

try an oil change my brothers isuzu used to do that and he did an oil change resulting in a fix. If it gets worse you could have a piston shoot through the oil pan.
