Question about 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier
When I turn the key to my car it won't start...the dash lights come on, but I get nothing beyond that. It does not crank or even try to turn over the motor. I know the battery is good and it does have fuel. It is as if the ignition isn't tell the starter to engage. All the electrical components inside the car are working just fine.
When you say you know the battery is good, how do you know? Did you check the battery with a voltmeter and, if so, what is the reading? Check the battery cables for loose connections, check the connection at the starter, if loose, tighten. If all of this has been done and the car still will not turn over, it is probably either the Bendix in the starter is bad or the starter itself is bad. Pull the starter and have it tested, I would be willing to bet it is bad...any autoparts store should be able to test it and should be able to sell you a new or re-built starter. Hope this helps, let me know!
