Question about 2001 Saturn L-Series

1 Answer

I have a 2001 saturn L100 that has a code of PO404. Is this my EGR sensor? If so where is it located and can I clean it or does it have to be repaired?

EGR Valve is on the intake manifold on the right side rear by the shock tower. It's round, has a base similar to a diamond shape, and has a steel tube leading up to it's base area on the back of the rear intake manifold. You can take it off and clean it out with throttle body cleaner, and clean the tube, but I've never seen one plugged. If it's indeed bad then I'd replace it and get a new gasket. If you're not sure how to check it then you should reask and clarify that.

BTW... just because there's a code doesn't mean the valve is broken. Could be an electrical issue. Again, check and clarify please.

Rough idle

the egr system works with vaccum and the vacuum control is a solenoid, who's controlling by open and close a electro valve,
if the valve is stoke open that allows the vacuum to go to the egr and make it work at the wrong time.

2006 super duty blowing white smoke lack of power and code po404

I'm assuming your engine is a 6.0L Diesel and if it is P0404 indicates a problem with the EGR sensor or valve, EGR position circuit, or a tubocharger vane problem.

What will be wrong if I got code p0406 and p 404

both codes po406 and po404 refer to a fault in the EGR system
Po404 > Exhaust Gas Recirculation Circuit Range/Performance not within proper range.
Po406> Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor A Circuit High (meaning the circuit is open or disconnected)
Without actualy checking the voltages (wiring)
Replace the EGR valve
clear codes

1998 Cavalier 2.2L I'm pulling codes of PO404 and PO405 The First says EGR Flow CKT Range/Perf The second is a Circuit Low Input for EGR Sensor A. PO405 is a constant code while 404 came up only once, but...

In the top picture you can see egr adapter, three bolts, the egr valve mounts to adapter. Hope the picture gives you some orientation? You can see the 5 wire connector and wire colors. The bottom picture should be the egr valve.
