Question about 1999 Chrysler Sebring

1 Answer

My sebring has no power. Engine Idles fine but slow reving. No codes, new converter, new distrib and tune up. new timing belt and timed right. Good fuel pressure and the dealer changed the engine computer.Only thing I noted is low intake vacuum (14lb) like timing is retarted but it's not.engine runs like timing is to retarted, computer showing good timing 11deg to 32deg.

Have you recently cleaned out your EGR valve on the intake and see if your gas vapor canister recycling vessel under the hood is plugged, this will help, then let the engine re-learn the new parameters after you do these things.

When was the last time you had a tune up? Could also be a clogged catalyst converter. Is you check engine light on? If so get the codes pulled.

Have 1999chrysler sebring wont fire put new dis an crank sen still wont fire is gasing ok

If you have a check engine light go to Auto Zone and use their borrow a tool offer to borrow a code reader. There are several things that can cause this. Check the fuses in the interior fuse panel and make sure they are all intact and not blown. If all the fuses are good check the ignition relay in the power distribution center under the hood. If that and the fuses are good your next test would be the ignition switch itself.

1997 Chrysler sebring jxi 6cyc, it idles fine, but when you press the gas it falls on it's face. It doesn't stall, just no go power. I did a tune up, changed the throttle position sensor, even loosened the...

Try cleaning out the throttle body really good. Let air dry before starting it afterwards. Open the throttle as you spray it all over.

Sounds like maybe vacuum or air/gas mix totally off.

Have you replaced the timing belt? if not i would highly recommend doing so. these cars need to have the timing belt replaced before it breaks otherwise it can and will cause major engine damage.

My 2002 chrysler sebring lxi convertible 2.7L check engine light came on. if you accelerate in parked it revs up and then starts jumping at 4500 rpm. like it cant go higher than that. drives fine though....

That jumping at 4500 rpm is probably just your revs. limiter so you don't blow up your engine by reving the **** out of it in park. You should not have to do that for any length of time.
You need to pull the code from the computer to find out what circuit you are having problems on.
The old Chryslers used to flash the code when you cycled the key three times to the on position. For a while the new ones would display the P0XXX code on the odometer display. I don't know when they stopped doing that. But it's worth a try.

Low power under acceleration on 1997 Escort

check the harmonic balancer. it is probably bad and its causing your timing to be off. if its cracked or wobbles replace it. if not the woodruff key might be twistid and causing the problem. id pull off the harmonic balancer and while you have it off check the timing belt. if the timing marks dont' line up replace the belt and water pump. its recommended to change the belt every 60,000 miles. if the belt is good replace the balancer.

Engine looses power going up hill, no check engine light at this time.

How old is the Catalytic Converter, sometimes they will get clogged up and affect performance.
Good luck

Replace plug plugwires, distrib, still a loss of power, want to make sure ive got it wired right

Have you checked the timing? does the engine run smooth at idle? if it idles ok then the plugs are wired correctly. Also verify you have correct fuel pressure. Fuel injected?
